The show *Alien: Earth* has been slowly increasing the suspense throughout its first season, and the ending of Episode 7, titled “Emergence,” takes the story to a new, highly emotional point. Joe Hermit is forced to make a very difficult decision. What begins as a bold escape attempt quickly leads to sadness, deception, and the discovery of where his true allegiances really are.
Why does Hermit shoot Nibs and stop Wendy in Alien: Earth Episode 7’s ending?
Joe Hermit has always been the one trying to protect his sister, Wendy, and her hybrid friends. With Arthur Sylvia’s help in removing the tracking devices, Hermit believes he finally has a way to get them off Neverland safely. However, they fall into a trap set by Prodigy soldiers, including Hermit’s former colleagues, Siberian and Rashidi.
Nibs flies into a panic and recklessly uses her doll, Mr. Strawberry, putting the soldiers in danger. In a fit of anger, she attacks and kills a guard, then turns on Siberian, leaving Hermit with a heartbreaking choice. He decides to save Siberian, abandoning Nibs, and this dramatically alters their relationships.
Hermit’s decision to stun Nibs appears to be a quick attempt to prevent more violence. However, it reveals something deeper: his loyalty still lies with humans, not hybrids. Wendy immediately recognizes this, and is heartbroken, questioning his actions. His impulsive choice seems to have severely damaged their relationship, possibly beyond repair.
Alex Lawther, the actor who plays Hermit, says this storyline shows Hermit is still learning to accept hybrids. While Hermit believes in embracing all of humanity – even its flaws – the latest episode reveals he hasn’t fully applied that acceptance to those who aren’t completely human. (Source: Decider)
Wow, the ending of Alien: Earth, Episode 7 really got to me! It’s so sad to see how Hermit trying to do the right thing – being loyal to his sister *and* holding onto his human side – totally blew up in his face. It left Wendy absolutely heartbroken, and now the hybrids don’t trust him anymore. It’s a really tough situation!
