Alice in Chains Cancel Entire Tour After Drummer’s Sudden Health Crisis Shocks Fans
Back in the ’90s, I fell head over heels for this iconic rock band that set my soul alight. Now, here I am, heartbroken to pieces, as they’ve announced the cancellation of their long-awaited tour due to a sudden health crisis one of its members is facing. This news has left me reeling and yearning for the day when they’ll take the stage once more.
Originally, the band planned to start their initial tour after 2023, however, they have decided to postpone or cancel it prior to its commencement.
Last week, I was informed that one of our band members experienced a non-critical health incident while rehearsing for a show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.
They canceled that show last week, but now it seems the band member’s health has not gotten better.
In response to canceling their Mohegan Sun Arena show, the band shared on social media the following day that they would be also canceling their entire tour.
Which well-known band has decided to call off their tour? None other than Alice in Chains, who announced this on their social media platforms.

In light of thoughtful deliberation and taking into account the recommendations from healthcare experts, we have chosen to call off our planned festival appearances and the headlining concerts by Alice in Chains.
At Mohegan Sun Arena, an event occurred that involved drummer Sean Kinney. Although specifics about the occurrence and his present state were not disclosed, the gravity of the situation led to the termination of the tour.
The statement expressed that everyone was excited to get back on stage, but at present, prioritizing Sean’s health comes first.
As one of the founding members and the drummer, I’ve been part of our Seattle grunge band since it began back in 1987, at the age of 58.
The group noted that while the situation demands urgent action, the long-term outlook for him remains optimistic.
The band expressed their heartfelt gratitude for your patience and backing during these times, as their final remark stated.
Currently, the band’s official site only features one scheduled event, which is a charitable farewell concert for Ozzy Osbourne that has already been sold out. It takes place at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK on July 5.
For approximately a year now, the team has been absent from live performances; their most recent event took place at the Sick New World festival held in Las Vegas, back in April 2024.

On May 10, they were scheduled to take the stage at MMRQ in Camden, New Jersey; on May 11, at Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio; and on May 16, at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Additionally, the band arranged major performances in Nashville, Tennessee (on May 13) and Dothan, Alabama (on May 15).
1987 saw the establishment of the band, which initially comprised vocalist Layne Staley, guitarist Jerry Cantrell, bassist Mike Starr, and drummer Kinney.
1990 saw them making a breakthrough with their Facelift album, yet it was 1992’s Dirt that truly catapulted them to fame. This groundbreaking album produced hits such as Would, Them Bones, Angry Chair, Rooster, and Down in a Hole.
