Alice Evans hits back at online troll for claiming she ‘looked like a freaking walrus’ during recent court showdown with ex-husband Ioan Gruffudd

Alice Evans responds following harsh criticism from an unknown internet critic about her court appearance.

At present, the British actress finds herself embroiled in an ongoing legal argument with her former spouse, Ioan Gruffudd, about child support obligations for their two daughters.

However, her recent court hearing in Los Angeles on July 24, where both Gruffudd and his expectant wife Bianca Wallace were present, subsequently triggered unkind remarks directed at her physique.

A follower anonymously criticized Evans, age 56, in a personal message, saying he wore the same black blouse and skirt combination too often.

On a Sunday night, she shared a post with her Instagram friends, saying: “I just got an unexpected message calling me extremely overweight and suggesting I look like a seal walking into court on Wednesday.

The statement further elaborated that my choice of attire was perceived as ‘unsightly’ due to its previous use in public settings, implying discomfort with repeat wear (the aversion to wearing clothing twice). It also mentioned that the outfit appeared ‘inexpensive’ and ‘ill-fitted’, and suggested that I had failed to grasp the appropriate dress code for a court setting.

It’s peculiar that this message originated from an account without a profile picture. Usually, I would appreciate being able to gather clues about the sender’s unique style, as it’s intriguing to learn from someone with impeccable taste – after all, who wouldn’t want to pick up some fashion tips from a stylish individual?

The actress, who shared a photo of herself outside court yesterday along with her confession, disclosed that she had been feeling extremely insecure about choosing an outfit for the hearing since she had spent several months trying to lose weight.

She included a photo of herself entering court on that day, explaining that she’s been diligently working on her weight loss for a year now, and admittedly, she thought she looked alright!

Before departing, I found myself frantically switching my clothes multiple times within a span of two hours, as I grew increasingly anxious. It dawned on me that none of my favorite outfits seemed to fit me, and the ones that did left me close to tears.

This post isn’t about sadness; it’s about strength. This week, I had to face court, and let me tell you, I was absolutely terrified. In fact, for the past three years, every time I’ve been called for hearings, fear has gripped me so tightly that I couldn’t even attend. It got so bad that I couldn’t even show up for the hearing in August ’22, despite my best efforts to gather courage. I was so panicked that I hid under the covers – yes, you could see the bed shaking. Isn’t it sad how fear can overpower us sometimes? [sic]

Despite the circumstances, I’m managing to carry on. I have two remarkable daughters to nurture and guide, and they are the source of my strength. If this means I appear a bit rounder, older, or out of style, so be it. In fact, I feel stronger than ever in life.

On Wednesday, the scheduled court appearance was meant to involve a hearing where evidence would be presented regarding the dispute between Gruffudd and Evans over her request that he increase the $4,500 monthly child support payment he already provides for her and their two children.

Instead, following a 90-minute conference between Judge Josh Stinn and the lawyers, another hearing is scheduled for August 12, during which a trial date will be determined.

Over the last seven days, Evans submitted court papers (obtained by DailyMail.com) stating her financial hardship, indicating she was in such dire straits that she had to borrow funds from acquaintances and establish a GoFundMe campaign which garnered $18,000 in donations.

She shared that herself, along with Ella, who is 15, and Elsie, aged 11, had been forced out of their Los Angeles residence as they found it difficult to meet the monthly rental cost of $6,500.

She contended that she had to ‘burn through’ her savings to pay living expenses and legal fees.

She firmly believed that, given his current financial situation – having married Wallace in April – Gruffudd is capable of contributing a higher amount than the current $3,000 monthly child support and $1,500 spousal support he provides.

However, Gruffudd contests his ex’s financial requests and, in his legal documentation, strongly disputes Evans’ assertions. He argues that she deliberately arranged her own eviction… by choosing not to pay rent and instead taking their children on a holiday to Europe instead.

According to him, her intention was to bolster her misleading story about being financially struggling, which she used as a deceitful tactic to tarnish my reputation. Furthermore, this dishonest act aimed to coerce me into providing more financial support than I can reasonably afford.

Gruffudd further argued that the subpoenaed banking documents demonstrate that contrary to his claimed financial struggles, Evans actually earned over $130,000 in the year 2024 and is projected to earn a similar income this current year. This assertion, however, was disputed by Evans as ‘misleading’ and ‘untrue.’

In a recent court submission, Gruffudd explained that he was deeply distressed upon receiving numerous anxious messages from our young children, who had been repeating untrue and fabricated stories about imminent homelessness, as claimed by Alice.

However, in recent legal papers submitted by her, Evans asserts that she did not coerce the children into writing distressing letters to their father.

She clarified that she never asked the kids to contact Gruffudd regarding our impending eviction and potential homelessness. The children, however, are fully informed about our financial difficulties and the upcoming eviction.

Griffith and Evans crossed paths on the film set of 102 Dalmatians over two decades back. In the real world, they found themselves falling for each other, culminating in a wedding ceremony in Mexico in the year 2007.

In March 2021, Gruffudd initiated a divorce proceeding, not long after Evans disclosed on social platforms that her partner of 14 years had decided to part ways with her.

They were divorced in July 2023.
