Alf star Benji Gregory's cause of death revealed two months being found in car alongside service dog in bank parking lotAlf star Benji Gregory’s cause of death has been revealed three months after he was found in a car alongside his service dog in an Arizona bank parking lot.

As a devoted fan of Alf and its brilliant cast, it is with a heavy heart that I write about the tragic passing of Benji Gregory, who played Brian Tanner in this iconic 80s sitcom. The news of his demise at just 46 years old, under such unfortunate circumstances in Arizona’s scorching heat, serves as an eerie reminder of the transient nature of life and its unpredictable twists and turns.

As reported by TMZ on Friday, the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner confirmed that the ex-child star passed away at the age of 46 in early July, likely due to excessive heat and complications from liver cirrhosis.

Gregory is particularly recognized for his role as Brian Tanner in the beloved 80s sitcom that aired from 1986 to 1990.

Simply put, the Arizona heat and sun led to Gregory’s death.

However, one interesting thing is that the actor had scarring of the liver which was caused by long-term damage to the organ as the publication reports it remains unclear what caused the cirrhosis.

On June 13, in the parking lot of a Chase Bank in Peoria, Arizona, Gregory and his service dog Hans were tragically discovered deceased inside their vehicle.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve come across some heart-wrenching news about my beloved idol, Gregory. From what his sister Rebecca shared with TMZ, it seems that Gregory battled depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder so severe that it would sometimes keep him awake for extended periods, often days on end. It’s truly disheartening to learn about the struggles he faced behind the scenes.

To be completely honest, I’ve been deeply engrossed in this tale, and here’s my take on it: According to those who know him best, he visited the bank on June 12 to deposit some leftover checks. Afterward, a heartbreaking turn of events took place. He dozed off in his car, unfortunately succumbing to the heatstroke brought about by the vehicle’s interior.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner Office has not yet determined a cause of death.

ALF, the television series, aired for a total of four seasons from September 22, 1986, until March 24, 1990. During this time, it featured Max Wright, Anne Schedeen, and Andrea Elson as its main characters.

In simpler terms, the storyline of the NBC sitcom centered around the Tanner family, a typical middle-class family living in the San Fernando Valley region of California, as they adopt an alien named ALF following his spaceship crash-landing in their garage.

The show follows the Tanner family as they make every effort to keep their extraterrestrial guest discreet from curious neighbors and official institutions.

Gregory was just eight-years-old when he shot to fame on ALF.

The well-known puppet was performed by director Paul Fusco.

Gregory was born in Los Angeles in 1978 – with his father, uncle and sister also all actors.

His TV appearances included Fantastic Max, The A-Team, T.J. Hooker, and The Twilight Zone.

He made several appearances on the television sitcom Punky Brewster, playing an orphan named Dash.

He also made an appearance in the feature film Jumpin’ Jack Flash (1986).

Gregory stepped away from acting in 2003 and enlisted in the US Navy.

He was assigned to the USS Carl Vinson and received an honorable medical discharge in 2005.

In 2006, he wedded Sarah, who was his wife at that time. However, their marital status at the time of his demise remains unclear.

Instead of making gifts in his own name, his sister Rebecca proposes contributions to either the Actors Equity Foundation or the ASPCA, in honor of his brother.
