Alexis Ohanian Breaks Silence on Serena Williams’ Show-Stopping Super Bowl Dance
Alexis Ohanian, the spouse of tennis star Serena Williams, is offering his thoughts on her captivating performance at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl 2025 half-time show on Sunday.
The 41-year-old Reddit co-founder took to X (formerly Twitter) to compliment the performance.
He commented, “Amazing half-time performance,” after posting pictures taken from his VIP seat’s viewpoint.
43-year-old retired tennis legend had a notable appearance as a main dancer in Kendrick’s almost final performance of the song ‘Not Like Us’, a track that contained several jabs at his rival, Drake – coincidentally, Serena Williams’ former partner.
It appears that Drake wasn’t in the best spirits leading up to his performance; in fact, mere hours before the show started, he launched into a heated on-stage rant about his past relationships in Melbourne, Australia.
Overwhelmed by joy, I couldn’t help but express my feelings after witnessing the incredible Super Bowl Halftime Show. On X, I shared, ‘Oh boy, did I just die a little during the Super Bowl Halftime! Let’s keep this energy going!’

Alexis already has a reputation for always having his wife’s back, and Sunday was no different.
In addition to celebration the halftime show, he also stood up for her crip walk on the field.
This time, the dance stirred up some debate on social media and among right-wing groups, but the overall reaction was mostly quiet or joyful, unlike the controversy that arose in 2012 when she danced after defeating Maria Sharapova at the Olympics, which caused a significant uproar.
A few people might not realize that Serena faced heavy criticism for a similar dance routine at Wimbledon 13 years back, and it’s evident that this event transcends the melodies he composed.
He added a snapshot of a synopsis of recent remarks by the conservative sports commentator Jason Whitlock, who at that time worked for Fox Sports.
Initially, he stated that Williams’ actions warranted criticism and felt she should have issued an immediate apology. Later, Whitlock compared her on-court mannerism, often referred to as the “tennis crip walk,” to telling an offensive, inappropriate joke in a place of worship.
In response to a fan labeling Whitlock as one of the biggest failures, Ohanian countered by saying, ‘It seems like manufactured anger fuels his income, but I wouldn’t choose that lifestyle for myself.’
In the heart-pounding spectacle that was Kendrick’s performance, I couldn’t help but feel my excitement surge when Samuel L. Jackson graced our screens, embodying an Uncle Sam persona!

Instead, he exclaimed disapproval by saying “Oh dear, not this!” upon hearing the music, then teased the rapper playfully using the criticisms leveled against him.
He persisted with his criticism, saying, “It’s too noisy! It’s too careless! Too… urban,” stressing the latter word. Some people see this phrase as a coded racial slur, although it was also used frequently in social media critiques following Sunday evening.
Ohanian seemed to interpret Jackson’s satirical comments as a significant reflection on the criticism previously leveled at his wife.
His bond with Serena started following their encounter in May 2015, around the time it seemed like her relationship with Drake was ending, as their connection had been intermittent from 2011 until 2015.
In August 2015, she was spotted locking lips with the rapper, while it was around the same period that Alexis started becoming a frequent presence on her social media accounts.
The two kept their relationship fairly under the radar, until they engagement on December 29, 2016.
On September 1st, 2017, she gave birth to their firstborn, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., who was then six years old. They got married on November 16th of the same year.
In August 2023, the joyous pair announced the arrival of their second bundle of joy, who was then 15 months old and named Adira River Ohanian.
