Alexandra Burke reveals the stern warning Beyoncé issued her ahead of THAT iconic X Factor duet
As I gaze upon the heartwarming story of Alexandra and Darren’s engagement, my heart swells with joy for this beautiful couple. Their journey, filled with love, children, and a shared history that includes a touch of showbiz glamour, is nothing short of enchanting.
Alexandra Burke has revealed the stern warning ahead of their iconic duet on the X Factor in 2008.
In the final of X Factor, the music superstar, who was 43 years old at the time, teamed up with the singer (who was then only 19) for a duet of her 2007 hit “Listen.” Remarkably, Alexandra ended up winning that competition.
Nevertheless, though the experience was enchanting and is now considered among the greatest duets in X Factor history, Alexandra shared that Beyoncé offered words of encouragement before she stepped onto the stage.
In a chat on Capital XTRA Breakfast on Friday, Alexandra shared memories of the Halo artist advising her to take care of her voice since she hadn’t traveled from the U.S. specifically to perform with someone who might underperform.
When asked about her thoughts during that moment, Alexandra exclaimed, “Heaven help me!
‘What’s running through my mind is, “How am I going to keep up with this woman?” Because we only had one rehearsal, and it was shocking.
She advised me not to continue singing as I might damage my voice. She further expressed that she didn’t attend the place expecting to sing with someone who could potentially lose their voice.
In response to Shayna’s surprise at Beyoncé’s statement, Alexandra added: ‘Indeed. She said, “I didn’t travel here just for that, you will be the winner!”‘
Initially, I replied, “You’re quite bold there,” but I quickly added, “In my mind, I’ve already triumphed since we sang together. Winning the competition isn’t necessary for me.” And just like that, to my surprise, I won!
In the end, the artist famous for “Bad Boys” triumphed over JLS, subsequently choosing to release Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” as her winning song.
Although Alexandra was thrilled with the result, Louis Walsh didn’t share the same sentiment since his group, JLS, missed winning that particular night.
Previously this year, Louis stated that Simon Cowell potentially hindered his chances of winning The X Factor by inviting Beyoncé to perform with Alexandra, which he perceived as less favorable to him.
Louis mentioned that Simon arranged for Beyoncé to perform on the show for Cheryl, who trained Alexandra. This booking, in turn, hampered Louis’ chances of winning the competition with JLS.
Within the Celebrity Big Brother house in March, the 72-year-old Irish music manager and television personality reminisced with housemates Zeze and David about a past event. He shared, “We made it to the final alongside JLS and Alexandra Burke, and we were fortunate enough to secure Westlife.
Simon adored Cheryl so much that he managed to secure tickets for a Beyoncé concert for her. That’s just the kind of person he is. That’s why people appreciate him.
Speaking passionately, I confided, “I had this burning desire to outshine her. She’s not flawless, but there’s something about her that draws me in, and I find myself appreciating her. Little does she know, but I admire her from afar.
At the moment, Alexandra is overjoyed, floating on a cloud, as she and footballer Darren Randolph revealed their engagement recently when he proposed to her.
In September, the runner-up from Strictly Come Dancing announced joyfully about her engagement by sharing pictures showing her partner proposing.
At the heartwarming proposal, Alexandra shone beautifully in a captivating green lace midi dress, with a scenic backdrop of a table adorned with delicate flower petals.
The singer labeled the photos with ring emojis, while a group of celebrities extended their well-wishes to the couple, offering congratulations.
“Yahoooo! ❤️,” Dawn French exclaimed, and Mrs. Hinch replied with: “❤️Congratulations, lovely! ❤️.
In June 2022, the couple became parents for the first time, while they added another member to their family in September 2023, preferring not to disclose the children’s names publicly.
Speaking about her engagement, Alexandra shared on Capital EXTRA Breakfast: “It wasn’t just a proposal; it was magical! Darren planned it out beautifully. In fact, I had no idea how much of a romantic he truly is until that special moment!
The Instagram post we shared is ‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong. That tune was my grandfather’s favorite, and it played moments before the event occurred. In that moment, I realized that if he didn’t take action then, it would never happen for us – it was merely our anniversary!
However, upon stepping onto that balcony and laying eyes on him with the infants, I was utterly taken aback. Utterly taken aback. The tears simply wouldn’t hold back! I find myself becoming emotional once more as I recall, he is the man I’ve longed for all along.
Indeed, I find myself filled with profound gratitude. Truly, I am blessed to have him, my cherished family by my side. It seems the heavens have smiled upon me in abundance.
