Alex Jones shares a kiss with husband Charlie Thomson as she celebrates 15 years on The One Show

Alex Jones, marking her 15th anniversary on The One Show, exchanged a loving kiss with her husband, Charlie Thomson, during the weekend celebrations.

On Friday, the presenter who is 48 years old received a special anniversary episode, and later shared exclusive backstage information on various social media platforms.

On a Sunday, Alex and Charlie struck a pose outside the studio, with Charlie surprising Alex during filming. They subsequently shared a collection of these photos on Instagram.

The photographs also contained one where she was seated on the well-known couch, next to Roman Kemp, and another showing her beaming among her coworkers.

Alex, who shared her experiences about her husband’s mental health struggle last year, penned: “Yesterday was absolutely thrilling! More exciting than any birthday I’ve ever had! Incredible and awe-inspiring. It’s truly humbling to have been a part of The One Show for 15 years and the time seems to have flown by!

She went on saying: “The entire team turns this workplace into something truly exceptional. They are simply outstanding! Over the years, I’ve felt incredibly fortunate to collaborate with everyone here.

What a joy it’s been to appear on your screens for so long, and I can’t help but express my heartfelt gratitude for all the thoughtful messages you’ve sent. I am truly moved by your kindness – it fills me with emotion that I can hardly contain! Reading them brings tears of appreciation to my eyes.

‘I feel very lucky to have my job and don’t for one second take it for granted.

Here’s a selection of pictures from last night. One of my favorites among them was taken graciously by Moira Hoffman – it’s truly one I’ll always cherish.

On The One Show on Friday, Alex’s husband Charlie unexpectedly showed up, leaving her noticeably moved.

As the program was drawing to a close, the co-hosts Roman (aged 32) and Richard Osman (aged 54) surprised Alex by inviting her husband, who they had been married to for ten years, onto the well-known green couch.

Taken aback, Alex seemed speechless upon seeing Charlie enter with an exquisite arrangement of blooms. The pair shared a heartwarming hug, exchanging a tender kiss, before settling down side by side.

Roman asked Alex: ‘Is it weird seeing him on the sofa?’

Still feeling emotional, she responded with a mix of strangeness and sadness, “It feels quite unusual, really unusual, standing here. It feels unusual being so close to you. Typically, you’d be out in the garden, constructing that treehouse we’ve planned.

Upon being queried about his feelings regarding his wife’s achievement, Charlie expressed that he was immensely proud, not only for her success in this context, but also for the family they’ve built together at home.

‘Striking a balance between the two has been quite remarkable, managing to maintain it through various periods. Even during the COVID era, it remained present.’

(This paraphrase aims to convey the same meaning as the original sentence while using more natural and conversational language.)

With a tremble in his voice, Alex expressed gratitude by saying, “I couldn’t manage all of this without my partner at home. He takes care of things here, handles the kids, and ensures everything is in order during bedtime, allowing me to be present here.

She continued, expressing gratitude towards her parents, family, friends at home, everyone present, and the viewers who have supported her for fifteen years.

Or even more simply:

She continued with a heartfelt thanks to her family, friends, audience members, and everyone in attendance, acknowledging their support over the past 15 years.

In the year 2015, Alex and Charlie got married, and they are parents to three wonderful kids: eight-year-old Edward, six-year-old Kit, and Annie, who celebrates her fourth birthday next week.

Previously, the speaker shared insights about a challenging time in their relationship that coincided with Charlie’s struggle against Lyme disease and viral meningitis.

On Gabby Logan’s podcast The MidPoint, Alex mentioned that he’s currently in a significantly improved state compared to when he struggled with his mental wellbeing due to an illness. Previously, he felt almost unrecognizable, being a mere reflection of himself during those difficult times.

She mentioned that her husband’s personal experiences with mental health issues are best shared by him, so she prefers not to elaborate much on the topic.

Recently, he has faced some challenging health issues, first battling Lyme disease and then experiencing viral meningitis. It’s been quite a tough time for him.

As I sit here reflecting, I can’t help but marvel at my incredible journey alongside this legendary talk show. Over the years, it’s been an absolute honor to grace that iconic sofa, and I’m immensely proud of being a part of its history.

Looking back on my time with this renowned talk show, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of pride for having spent so many years seated on that iconic couch. The experience has been nothing short of remarkable, and it’s an honor to have played a role in its rich history.

It doesn’t seem like 15 years have passed, and the show continues to feel new and exciting because it keeps changing and improving. I feel like each time we return, we do so with even more quality than before.

From the very beginning, when I was still a young girl, our audience has been a constant part of my journey. They’ve been there for all my significant milestones – from my engagement and wedding, to the arrival of my children. Now, they feel more like an extended family to me.
