Alex Jones makes a rare public appearance with husband Charlie Thomson as they leave Royal Academy of Arts party hand in hand after TV star spoke out on his health battle

At the 2025 Royal Academy of Arts Summer Preview Party, held at Burlington House in London on a Wednesday, Alex Jones and her spouse, Charlie Thomson, were spotted together in a rare public outing.

This year, the speaker, aged 48, who publicly shared Charlie’s heartbreaking health struggles, exited a luxurious location holding hands with her partner.

On that special day, I couldn’t help but steal all the glances wearing a stunning, strapless azure dress embellished with intricate dark blue floral patterns and a flowy chiffon skirt.

She teamed the stunning look with gold heels and toted her belongings in a black mini Chanel bag.

In the meantime, insurance broker Charlie presented an astute image with his beige blazer paired over a clean white shirt and matching denim pants.

In the earlier part of the night, Alex deliberately drew attention to herself by striking various poses for the cameras.

The prestigious Summer Exhibition offers an elegant night filled with Champagne and hors d’oeuvres, taking place amidst the stunning scenery of the Royal Academy.

The aim behind the establishment of the exhibition back in 1768 was to generate resources for the upkeep of the Royal Academy Schools, a pioneering art institution in Britain.

Each individual ticket is priced at £525, granting access to the event, a program, champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and the 2025 Exhibition: List of Works & Price Guide.

For an individual ticket price of £525, you’ll receive entry to the party, a program, some bubbly, snacks, and a copy of the 2025 Exhibition List of Works & Price Guide.

An exclusive ticket priced at £850 offers you priority recognition in the program guide, early entrance for previewing art pieces, and the chance to purchase artwork before anyone else.

These guests are also granted access to exclusive VIP Reception in the Royal Academy’s Fine Rooms.

The event comes after Alex candidly opened up about her husband Charlie’s harrowing health ordeal.

Last year, she divulged that Charlie had experienced a ‘rough period’ throughout 2023.

The pair married in 2015, and they have three children together, Teddy, Kit and Annie.

On Gabby Logan’s podcast ‘The MidPoint’, a year ago, the celebrity confessed that she witnessed her spouse struggling under the weight of fighting Lyme Disease and viral meningitis.

During her conversation Alex reported that Charlie is ‘in a much better place now’.

Describing her motivation, she expressed: “What propels me forward is knowing I have three young kids at home. I feel a strong desire to ensure I’m doing my utmost to stay healthy for them.

She added: “Our parents have consistently been in good health, and growing up, we’ve always maintained a well-balanced diet. However, Charlie and I are particularly committed to this healthy eating lifestyle.

‘He also wasn’t very well last year,’ she mentioned, prompting Gabby to inquire: ‘How is he now?’

Alex responded: “He’s definitely improved, and he’s significantly healthier than he was a year ago. A big factor in this transformation is his focus on diet. While we generally maintain a good diet, he has a keen interest in nutrition.

She said: ‘I believe it helped him pass the time when he wasn’t feeling good, in a sense. He chose to assume this role, you know? Even with the medicine, he wanted to explore other ways to aid himself.’

His past profession as a chef means that cooking and food hold a deep affection for him, bringing him significant pleasure.

I’m fortunate that he usually prepares our meals, yet I acknowledge it’s the more prestigious role since no one ever compliments on a well-stacked dishwasher. Consequently, he handles most of the cooking duties, but we both enjoy delicious meals as a result.

Consume a large amount of legumes, leafy greens, and various vegetables. I found out recently that it’s not just about quantity, but also diversity – eating a wide range of colors is key. I repeat this advice to my kids often.

Alex didn’t explicitly discuss her husband’s mental health issues, but she hinted at them during an appearance on the How To Fail Podcast. She mentioned that her husband’s mental state had rapidly deteriorated.

Instead of delving deeply into the matter since it’s my husband’s personal story to share, I’ll only say that we recently experienced a challenging time. During this period, unfortunately, he was battling both Lyme disease and viral meningitis.

‘Lots of things happened recently.’
