At the start of the Cannes Film Festival, Alessandra Ambrosio radiated elegance while striking a pose on the red carpet before the premiere of Partir Un Jour.

In a bold green, floor-length dress with a striking thigh-high split, puffed sleeves, and an elegant train, the 44-year-old Brazilian model displayed her stunning physique.

Offering a glimpse of her toned pins, Alessandra elevated her look with silver strappy heels. 

She added more touches to enhance her elegant appearance by wearing a necklace with a central purple gemstone set in a diamond frame, as well as coordinating hoop earrings.

To finish off her appearance, she arranged her dark hair in a chic half-up, half-down style and sported an immaculate makeup look.

Previously employed by Victoria’s Secret, the model radiated cheerfulness, gracefully waving at the cameras while adopting numerous alluring postures on the crimson carpet.

Day by Day narrates the journey of a young lady who departs from her small town to create her unique path, yet is compelled to return due to a pressing family crisis.

Directed by Amélie Bonnin, the film stars French actress Dominique Blanc and actor Tewfik Jallab. 

2021’s Cannes Film Festival is happening amid President Trump’s pledge to impose tariffs on foreign films.

The White House has indicated that no definitive choices have been settled yet. Possible strategies under consideration involve offering federal encouragements to domestic film productions instead of imposing tariffs. However, this statement serves as a warning about how global disputes can disrupt even long-standing cultural establishments.

The Cannes Film Festival was initially established during the era of World War II, as a response to the growing influence of fascism in Italy. This prompted the creation of an alternative event, since the Venice Film Festival was under government control at that time.

Since then, Cannes has remained steadfast in its dedication to cinematography, becoming a shining example for filmmakers worldwide. Numerous directors have flocked there to establish themselves.

2023 is no less unique, as some of the first-time directors at Cannes Film Festival – namely Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great) and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) – have already gained considerable recognition. These three will be presenting their feature directorial debuts in the Un Certain Regard section of Cannes.

Among the returning veterans at Cannes will be the likes of Tom Cruise (from Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), Robert De Niro, who was awarded an honorary Palme d’Or 49 years after his debut with Taxi Driver in Cannes, and Quentin Tarantino. This trio is set to honor low-budget Western director George Sherman.

This coming May 14th, the highly awaited eighth and concluding film in the Mission Impossible series will be among the initial screenings on the Cannes Film Festival schedule of this year, gracing the famous red carpet.

Meanwhile, Scarlett’s directorial debut, Eleanor The Great, will be unveiled on May 20.

Instead, due to his ongoing legal issues with ex-co-star Blake Lively, it seems unlikely that Justin Baldoni will be present.

In recent times, the spotlight seems to have shifted more towards the stylish attire of the celebrities gracing the event, rather than the lineup of movies shown at the Cannes Film Festival on the Croisette.

However, fresh modesty regulations, intended to uphold decency, will take effect during the opening of French director Amélie Bonnin’s Leave One Day this week.

Organizers explain that this strict rule is aimed at curbing the fashionable habit of celebrities wearing revealing outfits, often referred to as ‘naked dresses,’ which show far more skin than they cover, on the red carpet.

According to a Cannes Festival rule, it’s not allowed to be naked or expose nudity on the red carpet or anywhere else at the festival for the sake of decency.

At the festival, those who are part of the welcoming squads must ensure that only individuals adhering to these rules will be permitted on the red carpet.

The recently unveiled festival charter contains unexpected additions to its policy, which provides guidelines on the anticipated conduct of attendees.

Visitors are anticipated to gather at the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière, where they can witness several high-profile movie showcases over a busy seven-day period during Cannes.

It’s clear that the renowned location has shifted towards a stricter dress code, favoring formal attire such as suits, tuxedos, and long evening gowns over flashy outfits that might make headlines.

In simpler terms, you’re allowed to wear classic LBDs (little black dresses), cocktail dresses, pantsuits, fancy blouses, and sophisticated sandals, which can have heels or not.

It’s uncertain whether French television broadcasters, cautious about showing explicit content, may have influenced the adoption of this stricter policy.

Prominent movie galas such as the Cannes Film Festival are broadcasted on French television by France Télévisions.

Lately, the annual event has been witnessing a surge in fashionable models and social media influencers instead of actors and movie creators. This shift has led to a rise in bold and daring red-carpet fashion choices.

2021 found me utterly captivated at the sight of American supermodel Bella Hadid, as she graced the red carpet in a deep-necked, enchanting black gown for the premiere of Tre Piani (Three Floors).

Three years on, she repeated a daring move, leaving guests at the 2024 gala spellbound when she appeared at the premiere of Donald Trump’s biopic “The Apprentice” without a bra under a see-through brown evening gown.
