Fans of Alec and Hilaria Baldwin were granted a peek into their Amagansett, New York residence, yet a painting in their living room sparked heated discussions on social media over the past weekend, causing quite a stir.
The 67-year-old actor and his 41-year-old wife were recently highlighted touring their home near the Hamptons in the New York Times. However, Alec drew attention once more to a controversial portrait of Hilaria when he shared excerpts from the article on Instagram last Sunday.
The pair conspicuously exhibit a realistic triptych depicting Hilaria purchasing fruits from a supermarket, donning sunglasses and positioned before rows of Rice-A-Roni boxes stacked high.
In conversation with time, Hilaria expressed her feelings, saying, ‘I must confess, it’s quite awkward that a large portrait of me adorns this very room. It feels something like, “Step inside my living space. Meet the giant portrait of yours truly.”‘
Participants in Alec’s post clearly experienced a sense of awkwardness on behalf of Hilaria, and they didn’t hesitate to critically review the painting, created by artist Brendan O’Connell, which was reportedly inspired by a paparazzi photo of Hilaria shopping in a West Village store near their primary residence in New York City. The painting was heavily criticized.
One commenter expressed their difficulty in a more simplified manner, stating, ‘This painting was too challenging for my palate and seemed to provoke various negative emotions.’

Many people teased Hilaria for continuing to display a painting of herself, even though she had previously stated that it made her feel embarrassed.
The person seemed quite self-conscious about the painting they put on display at their home, which made me doubt their sincerity.
‘She can’t be too embarrassed with the picture bc she hung it up,’ added another poster.
Another user remarked, “She was so mortified that she left the painting on display for the article.
One fan suggested that Hilaria should ‘take it down’ if the painting was ‘so embarrassing.’
‘Easy . . . get rid of it,’ agreed another poster.
Some commenters even suggested that keeping the painting up betrayed narcissistic tendencies.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but exclaim: “Who on earth would display their photo in such a personal space like their living room? It’s almost like they’re so self-absorbed that they think everyone needs to see it! 😂 [sic]

Some individuals were firm in expressing their preference for minimal information regarding Alec and Hilaria’s residential and private affairs.
‘No No…no no no,’ one person wrote, while another commented, ‘Nobody asked for this 😩.’
Others poked fun at Hilaria’s past habit of speaking with an exaggerated Spanish accent.
One person playfully imitated an accent and asked, ‘What’s the English translation for “I don’t care” with a humorous twist, reminiscent of a time when Hilaria feigned forgetting the word ‘cucumber,’ before pronouncing it dramatically as if it were unfamiliar to her.
Born in Boston and primarily residing in the U.S., I’ve had the American experience as my upbringing, despite my family frequently communicating in Spanish at home and taking annual trips to Spain. Interestingly, my parents moved to the beautiful Spanish island of Mallorca in 2011, a year prior to my wedding with the actor known for Hunt for Red October.
One fan joked about preferring Alec when he was in funnyman mode.
‘I will only engage with 30 Rock Alec Baldwin,’ they wrote.
However, not all commenters deemed the painting distasteful. Instead, some users admired the Baldwins’ home overall, with one individual daringly stating, “I appreciate the painting.

Hilaria and Alec were proudly showing off their home after they decided to hold on to it.
In 1996, the actor who starred in The Departed purchased a property close to the Hamptons, and in 2022, he put that same house on the market for an astounding $29 million. This price hike is significant as he had initially paid just $1.75 million for it.
Due to a fatal shooting incident on the set of his Western film Rust in 2021, where he accidentally took the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza, he had to give up his home.
Baldwin asserted that he never fired the prop gun, as he claims he was informed it contained no live bullets.
In January 2023, Baldwin found himself facing two charges of involuntary manslaughter. However, he entered a plea of not guilty and these charges against him were eventually dismissed in April of the same year.
However, he was again charged in January 2024 on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
In simple terms, the judge decided to end the case permanently in July 2024, as it was discovered that the prosecution failed to share crucial evidence with Baldwin’s lawyer, which might have been beneficial for his defense. This means the case cannot be brought back up again.
This summer, the lawsuit filed by Baldwin against New Mexico prosecutors for alleged malicious prosecution was dismissed due to his failure to submit required documents for several months.
Despite facing legal challenges, Baldwin found it difficult to sell his Amagansett property. Recently, he and Hilaria have chosen to keep holding onto it instead.
