Alden Ehrenreich wants to play Han Solo again if the story is right

As a long-time Star Wars enthusiast who’s seen more than a few galaxies far, far away, I can’t help but get excited at the prospect of Alden Ehrenreich reprising his role as young Han Solo. I’ve been vocal about my love for Solo: A Star Wars Story, and I firmly believe that Ehrenreich was not the problem with that film; its overly ambitious production history was.

There’s no need to lose faith in seeing Han Solo back as a younger character, considering Alden Ehrenreich believes he portrayed him authentically.

At D23 EXPO 2024, Ehrenreich chatted with Access Hollywood while promoting his upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project, Ironheart, alongside co-stars Regan Aliyah and Lyric Ross. When questioned about a potential return to the role of Han Solo, he hinted, “Well, I might just give it another go!”

If it’s the right version of it. It was such a fun character, and the story that I did was kind of like the making of Han Solo. So, I got to really be the like the Han Solo we know and love in the last bit of the movie. If it was the right thing, it would be fun to play him and be the guy in that way.

Alden Ehrenreich

As someone who has a soft spot for Solo: A Star Wars Story, I’m always hopeful we’ll see Ehrenreich again in the role. As I have stated many times before, Ehrenreich was not the issue of Solo. The issue of that movie was that it was filmed twice, which made it incredibly expensive. I always fear that Lucasfilm may have learned the wrong lessons as they invested in creating deep fake technology to bring Luke Skywalker to life in The Mandalorian instead of letting a new actor play the role. I’m a big supporter of recasting these classic characters while we still have the original actors around to guide them.

Billie Lorde has already played Leia in The Rise of Skywalker. Let her play Leia going forward.

Moving away from the podium, it seems Ehrenreich might reprise his role as young Han Solo in the upcoming “Lando” movie directed by Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover. Since this project has experienced some changes from a television show to a film, its production status remains uncertain for now.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my heartfelt wish: Let Alden Ehrenreich grace us with his presence as Han Solo once more. His portrayal was remarkable, and I eagerly await the chance to see him reprise the rogue role for another thrilling escapade.
