Albanese Teases Big Surprise for Wedding: Australian Band Confirmed?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has subtly revealed the potential performer for his upcoming wedding celebration.
‘Albo’ is preparing to walk down the aisle later this year with fiancé Jodi Haydon.
On Friday, the Prime Minister featured as a guest on Abby Chatfield’s “It’s A Lot” podcast, and before long, the focus shifted to the much-anticipated event.
Abbie mentioned that many people have been eagerly anticipating a significant revelation, specifically a scheduled event,” she stated, but this isn’t about the upcoming federal election.
‘Finally, Anthony, you’ve set a date for the wedding.’
In the studio, they both laughed together. The Prime Minister then responded by saying, “We’ve managed to pinpoint it to the latter part of the year.
We can hardly wait! Last Valentine’s Day marked a special occasion – exactly one year since our engagement.
Albo, while chatting with Abbie, couldn’t help but rave about his soon-to-be spouse. When Abbie inquired whether the wedding atmosphere would remain the same regardless of the election outcome, he…
‘It will be the same because it’s about us and family and friends,’ he said.
As a devoted partner, I want to share that our special commitment won’t be shared with the world in real-time – it’s a deeply personal event that revolves around our bond. Given how much of our lives is already exposed to public gaze, this will be an intimate moment when we promise to stand by each other for the remainder of our journey together.
He continued: ‘When my first marriage ended I didn’t think i would find someone else, and I have.
‘We’re best friends, as well as lovers and people who will spend our lives together.’
Always acting as a supporter, Abbie later proposed an idea to Anthony regarding the music entertainment for the night, hinting that Adam Hyde’s band, Peking Duk, would be suitable for the occasion.
‘Are Peking Duk going to play?’ Abbie asked. ‘Aka can I come and serve drinks.’

Anthony suggested that the wedding might not accommodate such large sounds, but the ‘post-party’, on the other hand, could present a different scenario.
He mentioned, “Given it’s located in Canberra, naturally, being a true Canberran himself, Adam could definitely be a suitable choice.
‘But it’s [the wedding] going to be pretty small. The after party, perhaps.’
Moreover, Albo, who’s quite skillful with DJing, commented: “Adam’s approach to DJing differs somewhat from mine. Although I’ve dabbled in DJing as well, my style could be described as more ‘dad-like’ compared to Peking Duk.
Afterward, Abby proposed the idea that Adam’s habit of showing off his hairy, bare-bodied figure during performances might not align with the decorum expected at a Prime Minister’s wedding.
She mentioned, “At your wedding, having Adam without a shirt and all sweaty might not be the atmosphere you’re aiming to create.
Anthony replied with a self-effacing: ‘As long as it’s not me, no one wants to see that.’
In their latest conversation with Australian Women’s Weekly, the duo mentioned they intend to organize a low-key wedding, inviting only family members and close companions, which is expected to take place during the upcoming spring season, following Australia’s general election.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m excited to share that we’ve planned an intimate gathering later this year – it might even take place outdoors, under the open sky. This event is all about family, loved ones, and creating lasting memories together. And let me assure you, our beloved pet cavoodle, Toto, will undoubtedly be a part of the festivities!
Anthony mentioned that before proposing, he sought the assistance of his 24-year-old son Nathan, whom he co-parents with his ex-partner Carmel Tebbutt, who previously served as the Deputy Premier of New South Wales.
He holds him in high regard and enjoys a strong bond not only with him but also his mother. Consequently, when the situation arose, he offered his backing. His primary concern is my happiness, and it’s evident that Nathan and Jodie share a warm relationship as well. This was his statement.
It was more noticeable that there was a significant distinction between him and Ms. Haydon when it came to choosing the guest list, particularly regarding the number of extended family members they each had.
In my childhood, it was solely my mother and I; I don’t have any siblings. However, I do have a particularly special bond with one family member, my son Nathan, whom I hold dear – we are more like friends than just relatives.
He mentioned that he calculated it this past week, and as it turns out, the number of his six first cousins combined is significantly fewer than Haydon’s, who appears to have at least 70.
