During a chat with Forbes, Courtney openly disclosed that he tried out for the part of Reacher in the Amazon Prime Video show. He made it clear that he bore no ill feelings towards Ritchson, who ultimately landed the role before him.
He had watched the show and recalled thinking when the casting was announced, “I could have played Jack Reacher!” However, they replied, “That’s too personally related.” At the moment, it was disappointing not to receive a chance, which he later recounted.
Alan is fantastic in his performances, especially in ‘War Machine’. I truly respect and admire him. It’s quite intriguing to witness larger, robust actors landing roles due to a period of apprehension… He’s making the most of these opportunities with the projects he’s preparing, so kudos to him!”

Actor Ritchson, known for his roles in shows like “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” and now “Reacher“, recently disclosed that during filming for the final episode of season three, he experienced a brief spell of unconsciousness, describing it as entering “the seventh level of hell.
He reminisced about coming up with an innovative plan for filming a stunt. Specifically, he wished for the camera to ascend and focus solely on his face throughout the action of being propelled through a table on the barn floor.
They all said, ‘You’ll be murdered, and since it would be extremely painful for you, we won’t do it. Instead, we’ll use a stuntman and film from the ground.’ But I responded, ‘Absolutely not.’
