On Thursday, comedian Alan Davies jokingly revealed that Jennifer Aniston allegedly flirted with him back in 1997.
Oh, I totally get those moments! The comedian, who’s 59, was describing how he completely blanked – he said it felt like he’d had a stroke or something! It was one of those really awkward, fumble-your-lines kind of blunders, you know? We’ve all been there!
Alan first encountered the 56-year-old actress at a Royal Gala celebrating the 21st anniversary of the Prince’s Trust.
He told Katherine Ryan on her podcast, ‘What’s My Age Again,’ that she wore a dress with thin straps, and had incredibly smooth skin, a beautiful face, and amazing hair.
I told a few jokes about my dog during a stand-up routine, and after the show, a woman came up to me. I thought she was going to walk past, but she stopped and told me she loves dogs.
I was so surprised, it felt like I’d been stunned. I just assumed she wanted to talk about dogs.

Alan explained that it was clear she was trying to attract him. She’d specifically sought him out at the party – he seemed to fit what she was looking for in a partner: the right age, build, a similar sense of humor, and a love of dogs. She’d apparently thought, while visiting London, he might be a good match for her.
‘And then what I did was I introduced her to the cast of Coronation Street.’
Elsewhere, Alan shared a rare insight into how he met his wife Katie Maskell in a candid chat.
The actor and comedian has been married to the writer since 2007. They first met in 2005 backstage at the TV show QI.
Alan recently shared details about the meeting where he finally asked Katie on a date. He had noticed her in the crowd and found the courage to approach her afterward.
Alan discovered Katie worked for a literary agency when he learned one of their authors was appearing on the QI show that day. He then asked for her phone number while they were both at the bar in the green room.
‘She didn’t have her glasses on and that worked in my favour,’ he joked.
Alan shared details about the difficult childhood he experienced, following his recent revelation that he was abused by his father.

Oh my gosh, I just read this interview with Alan, and it was SO sweet! He was talking about his family home with Katie and the kids, Eve and Bobby, and he said he really wanted to create a totally different upbringing for them than the one *he* had. It’s just… it’s amazing to see how much he’s thought about making sure they have a happy childhood. I’m obsessed with how much he cares!
He explained that his father was abusive, and when he tried to talk about it with his brother at age 15 during an emotional outburst, his brother didn’t believe him. They haven’t spoken since.
I was so moved when he finally talked about understanding his childhood. It was amazing to hear him explain how figuring things out helped him see his relationship with Katie in a whole new light. It felt like a huge weight lifted, and it was really powerful to witness.
He admitted that a few years ago, Katie likely would have ended things with him if she hadn’t understood how his upbringing affected him and how he reacted to criticism, explaining that he wasn’t always the easiest person to be around.
