Alan Carr’s Terrifying Eye Health Scare: Doctors Warn of Possible Sight Loss!

Alan Carr has shared details about a harrowing health incident that had him worried about losing his vision. He disclosed that the pressure in his eyes became too high and required a procedure to drain excess fluid.

In a recent episode of his popular podcast “Life’s A Beach,” the well-admired comedian, aged 48, discussed an unexpected incident that left him quite shaken. He revealed details about a bizarre hospital procedure where a spike was inserted into his numbed eye during surgery.

In a conversation with Grace Campbell on his Life’s A Beach podcast, Alan clarified: ‘I have astigmatism, but I used to joke about it as if I had stigmata, likening it to the wounds of Christ. Alan, you need to lighten up a bit.’

Recently, I experienced a minor health alarm related to my eyes. I visited Moorfields Eye Hospital for a check-up due to the high pressure I’m feeling in both eyes.

The TV talk show host expressed his surprise when the doctors instructed him to remain calm as they approached a sharp object near his cornea.

They told me, “Simply unwind, Alan. Focus on a spike entering your eye.” This left me utterly bewildered, as if I had stepped into a dream-like realm.

‘I hate the glaucoma thing, when they squirt the air in your eyes.

‘I had something wrong with my eyes in the cornea. I was so worried.’

Alan added: ‘He had to basically choke me because this air going into my eye was too much.

At Moorfields, they numbed my eye before inserting a probe onto the lens to test its functionality.

Alan admitted the experience left him shaken, as losing his sight is his worst fear.

They told me: “Alan, just relax and focus on a spike approaching your eye.” I was taken aback. What? Oh, that’s reassuring. The spike seems to be getting nearer. Okay, I’ll try to relax!

‘It was so surreal. Losing my sight is my worst thing, and I can feel it getting worse.

‘My eyeballs need draining – they’ve got too much pressure.’

In exciting news for supporters of the sitcom “Changing Ends”, created by Carr, ITV has approved not just one but two extra seasons of the show, which are inspired by his childhood experiences in 1980s Northampton.

Fans are excited for more than just one reason, since they see the return of him alongside Amanda Holden in their latest home improvement show, titled “Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve found myself immersed in the exciting world of television production, specifically focusing on the second season of our popular home renovation series for the BBC. It’s been a whirlwind experience working alongside my famous partner!

Following the triumphant run of an Italian television show, these top companions are now united once more, this time amidst the sunlit slopes of Andalusia, as they embark on their inaugural renovation project in Spain.

In the preview, you see Amanda and Alan standing there, savoring a beverage, amidst the grandeur of a castle overlooking a breathtaking sunset view.

In reminiscing about their past experiences, Alan shared that it was during times when his father accumulated some wealth that they visited beautiful locations such as Alicante and Benidorm in Spain; however, this was the first instance where he found himself exploring the interior regions.

Later on, Amanda inquired of Alan whether he’d ever gone camping, followed by a light-hearted reminisce about a cherished memory from her past family vacations.

She explained: ‘We had a tent and we had to wait for my mum and dad to pitch.

‘My favourite noise in the world is hearing a zip go up.’

‘I bet it is,’ Alan quipped before they both ended up in fits of laughter.

‘I thought it be going down knowing you,’ he swiped, taking the joke in a more X-rated direction.

In the latest show, spectators find themselves following Amanda’s daring venture to renovate a dilapidated three-story townhouse, persuading Alan to embark on a shared lifetime ambition and turn it into a charming bed-and-breakfast inn.

Realizing they’ve taken on more than they can manage, it becomes clear to them that the project – spanning over 2,000 square feet, requiring roof repairs, and with an outbuilding in a state of disrepair – is far too extensive for their capabilities.

Away from the DIY, Amanda and Alan will of course throw themselves into the Spanish traditions.

They’ll journey across Andalusia to explore the diverse terrain of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountains, quaint, white-walled coastal settlements, and ancient Moorish urban areas.

Watch Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job at 8pm on BBC One.
