Alan Carr’s ex-husband Paul Drayton has announced his ‘amazing’ brother has sadly died aged 28. 

53-year-old Paul, both party organizer and actor, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram alongside a picture with his deceased brother James, expressing deep emotions on Tuesday.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a personal update: My heart is heavy with grief, for my beloved brother left us just on the brink of Christmas. I’m choosing to keep the details surrounding his departure private at this time.

He wrote: ‘Goodbye my gentle soul! I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I loved you more. 

Everyone who knew you is deeply saddened at your absence. Your memory as a loving sibling, son, grandchild, and parent will forever remain vivid in our hearts.

He added a broken heart emoji alongside the words: ‘James Drayton. 2/4/1996 – 18/ 12/ 2024. 

Paul accompanied the post with Michael Jackson’s song Gone Too Soon.  

Paul and comedian Alan broke up back in May 2022 after 13 years together.

In 2022, Paul found himself in a precarious situation when he was arrested for a DUI incident involving a police vehicle, as his blood alcohol level was exceptionally high, almost reaching the maximum limit.

Alan cited Paul’s drinking as the ‘final straw’ in their rocky relationship. 

Paul, currently celebrating his third year of sobriety, is now contemplating a book that Alan believes will encompass both the positive aspects, as well as the challenges and difficulties.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve got the scoop! From what I hear as an inside source, Alan seems to be well aware that Paul is penning a book. It’s no secret that their relationship—the highs, the lows, and everything in between—will likely take up a significant chunk of this story. Can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

For more than a decade, I’ve been privileged to share moments with this remarkable entity, experiences that were nothing short of extraordinary – moments of pure bliss and camaraderie, intertwined with challenges that were meticulously chronicled.

In October, Paul commemorated the third anniversary of his arrest for driving under the influence by posting a video showing the instant he was escorted away by the police.

I just couldn’t contain my excitement when I posted that video on Instagram, showcasing the unforgettable instant I found myself being taken into custody. In a heartfelt message accompanying the clip, I labeled that phase as the most challenging time I’ve ever encountered in my life.

Three years ago today, I was apprehended, handcuffed, and escorted to the Crawley police station. Here’s a brief snippet from that day. It still gives me a chill to watch it back.

Afterward, a series of unfortunate incidents unfolded, far from anything pleasant! The officer accused me of being drunk and claimed I’d driven my car into him. Both allegations were false! On that very day, I felt completely shattered!

I was told it would be best if I pleaded not guilty, so that my attorney could conduct a thorough investigation to compile all possible favorable evidence.

26th December 2022, the court handed down a 12-week imprisonment sentence for me, which left me reeling, like I was sinking without hope of rescue.

At that time, I was juggling several challenging situations – fresh from two brain operations, in the midst of a divorce, and preparing for a move. To add to that, I was already three weeks into my recovery process at a rehabilitation center!

I’ve fully owned up to my actions, and let me assure you, that entire phase in my life was an all-time low.

I’m embarking on a significant personal transformation, exploring my identity more deeply while abstaining from alcohol as a coping mechanism or means of self-medication, which was a part of my previous lifestyle.
