Alan Carr Opens Up About Dating Struggles After Divorce

48-year-old television personality confessed that he employs humor as a defense mechanism, finding it hard to comprehend that people might take interest in him.

On her latest podcast Mad, Sad & Bad, Alan candidly discussed his experiences with dating after a divorce, admitting that he often needs to remember his own worth.

He shared that he’s cautiously dipping his toes back into dating, but he’s encountered a challenge: due to past mistakes, he’s developed a tendency to overact and now finds himself doubting the authenticity of his actions.

Currently, there are individuals expressing curiosity towards me, but I find myself thinking, “Oh, with these crooked teeth, thick-framed glasses, and plump physique?

However, I might say something like, “Well, I sometimes find myself saying, ‘Alan, you need to hold back on the content since it’s your material,’ but then you respond with, ‘Alan, you’re valuable, this person is intrigued by you.’

In a show of solidarity, Paloma remarked: ‘It seems rather unfortunate to hear you belittle yourself so much since there aren’t many people out there who possess your unique blend of charm, wit, and intelligence. Isn’t that self-deprecation just a protective barrier?’

Regarding our divorce, Alan expressed that the relationship simply disintegrated over time. People often seek sensational headlines, but the reality is that we shared many years together.

‘It just ended, but we had 13 years we gave it a good go.’ 

Apart from that, Alan was involved in a fast-paced relationship with his younger partner, Callum Heslop, aged 28. Regrettably, this duo parted ways last year.

Previously this month, he confessed that he has started dating once more and is eager for Amanda Holden’s assistance in finding a new romance.

Alan shared the one condition he has while dating, and admitted he would never use apps.

He shared with The Mirror: ‘I’m currently seeing someone, testing the waters, yet it’s not intense. I refuse to use dating apps; instead, I prefer it to be a friend of a friend setting us up. I’ve been on a handful of dates, but they haven’t gone as planned. Truthfully, I’ve been traveling often, but now I’m ready for companionship… anyone will do.’

Amanda gave a knowing wink, saying, “I do have someone special, but we’ve chosen to keep our relationship private. It’s important for him to find love in his own way.

Alan shared that he’s now at an age where he chooses shows that he genuinely enjoys. He believes life is too precious to waste, so he wants to fill his days with joy and laughter as he enters the later stages of his life.

The celebrity, who had a brief, intense romance with a hairdresser, humorously mentioned that he was now searching for a “hefty rugby player to roughhouse with” or someone with a preference for larger individuals who struggles with confidence issues.
