Alan Carr is ruled out of ‘taking over as the new Strictly host as tour clash leaves the BBC “gutted” and pinning their hopes on a new favourite’

Alan Carr is no longer likely to host the next season of Strictly Come Dancing because his planned tour performances in 2027 conflict with the show’s schedule.

The 49-year-old comedian was reportedly a leading candidate to replace Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly, who recently left the show.

Oh my gosh, Alan just exploded onto the scene with Celebrity Traitors, didn’t he? Everyone was talking about him! And apparently, the people who make the show are SO upset they can’t use all this buzz to their advantage right now. It’s just… tragic! He’s amazing, and they’re missing out!

The BBC is reportedly considering Rylan Clark, who previously hosted ‘It Takes Two,’ as a possible host for the show.

Alan won’t be competing for one of the ten hosting spots, much to the BBC’s disappointment. A source told The Sun that he was their top choice, but he’s unable to reschedule his tour to accommodate the commitment.

The planned dates for 2027 are fixed, and Alan has had to make a decision. The BBC understands his choice, but they are very disappointed.

Everyone initially believed Alan was the perfect fit for the position. However, Rylan has now become a leading candidate, and his performance in the upcoming chemistry tests will likely determine the final decision.

Daily Mail has contacted the BBC and Alan’s representatives for comment.

Alan is planning a major tour of the UK and Ireland in 2027, performing his new show, ‘Have I Said Too Much?’ He’ll be doing a total of 90 shows.

The tour continues from September to November, unfortunately overlapping with the broadcast of Strictly Come Dancing.

Alan, Bradley Walsh, and Alex Jones were all strong contenders for the role.

Sources say that potential contestants will participate in challenges where they switch partners, all to help show executives determine which pairings have the best on-screen connection.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I heard from someone in the know that finding replacements for Claudia and Tess is, like, a HUGE deal, but the BBC has finally narrowed down the potential hosts to just ten people! I’m practically glued to the internet trying to find out who they are!

In addition to Bradley, Alex, and Alan, Rylan Clark, Rob Rinder, Zoe Ball, and Holly Willoughby will also be attending the chemistry day.

‘Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond, and Angela Scanlon have made the cut too.’

According to a source, the celebrities will be brought together in a studio and paired up in various combinations to determine which duos have the best chemistry on camera.

Contestants on the show can be paired up as two women, two men, or one of each. Show officials are hoping to create fresh and unique pairings this season.

Tess and Claudia announced in October that they’ve decided to leave their roles together. They described hosting ‘Strictly’ as a dream come true and explained that they always intended to step down as a pair, feeling now is the right moment.

Oh my gosh, I just know the rest of this series is going to be absolutely incredible! And honestly, I need to shout out the BBC and everyone involved – they’re a truly amazing team. I’m already dreading when it’s over, I’m going to miss them all so much every single day!

It’ll be sad when we finally stop encouraging each other to keep going, but we’ll still find ways to support each other – maybe just in comfy clothes at home with pizza!
