AL Flandre: “I don’t think we’ve fully shown what we’re capable of yet”
In a recent conversation, Xpsp discussed his upcoming lane match with Bwipo as Flandre (someone else) expressed his assurance regarding their game against Gen.G.
In a riveting 3-1 victory, Legend (AL) defeated FlyQuest, showcasing an abundance of creativity and unyielding tenacity. Following the triumph, top laner Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun conversed with Xpsp regarding his matchup against Bwipo, commending his diverse champion selection. Flandre additionally voiced his opinions on his preferred Yorick, AL’s team dynamics, and exhibited optimism for the upcoming encounter with Gen.G on July 4.
In the meantime, FlyQuest moves into the lower bracket where they’ll meet up with G2 Esports for an exciting North America versus Europe matchup, both teams standing to gain significant stakes.
Bwipo’s deep champion pool and Yorick-Trundle combination
You mentioned in a recent interview that you were really looking forward to facing off against Bwipo. Could you share your thoughts on the series between the two of you, and which lane do you believe was the most challenging?
In this confrontation with Bwipo, I found the challenge primarily stemmed from my initial choice of top lane champions, causing some pressure due to anticipating his wide range of champions. It’s well-known that Bwipo is versatile in his selection, and selecting first left me guessing about his pick. I believe he aimed to counter me throughout our games with such a vast champion pool at his disposal.
Regarding your choice of Yorick for our second game, as you mentioned, this character has been recently nerfed and isn’t typically seen at international events. However, it’s a well-known pick of yours. Could you share the thought process behind selecting Yorick in this match?
In my selection of Yorick, I opted for a harmonious partnership with Trundle. Regardless of the collaboration between our top and jungle roles, this choice proved effective against Viktor and Vi. As previously stated, I had some apprehension regarding Bwipo’s champion roster. I was uncertain about his pick, and Mordekaiser took me by surprise. However, my primary concern was the interaction between our top and jungle roles. Given my uncertainty about his choice, I felt it necessary to play with a more controlling strategy.
Anyone’s Legends power is yet to be revealed.
In the fourth match, you chose a powerful carry character, Ambessa. Is it your preference to pick such carry and strong characters for games, or do you find yourself leaning more towards the tankier champions like the one you played in game three, Sion?
Flandre: Regardless of the type of champions you possess, it’s essential to master them. You should always be ready to face a variety of champions, particularly the strongest ones currently trending in the meta. It’s crucial to have a selection of picks that allow you to adapt to various draft scenarios and counter their combos effectively.
During our last match, I played exceptionally well alongside Shanks. Did our performance in that game give a glimpse to those unfamiliar with Anyone’s Legend, of what I’m truly capable of for the MSI 2025 tournament?
Flandre: We haven’t fully displayed our potential just yet as this is our debut game. It has been some time since we last played internationally. However, several players on our team are making their international debut here, which means they will need more time to adapt. I’m confident that we can improve match by match, so keep an eye out for our future performances!
Anyone’s Legend vs Gen.G: “Kiin is an all-rounder player.”
In your upcoming match, you’ll face off against Gen.G. How sure are you of securing a victory? Could you share your thoughts and predictions about the series?
Flandre: I’m quite certain of my confidence, as we’ve faced them in practice matches previously. In my opinion, Kiin is a versatile player. I believe the series will hinge on teamwork; we must outsmart them with coordinated strategies.
As I gear up for MSI 2025, here’s a shout-out to all the amazing Anybody’s Legends fans out there! Your unwavering support means the world to me. Keep cheering, keep believing, and let’s create some epic memories together in this gaming journey we share!
Flandre: I am deeply appreciative of the fans who constantly stand by us. I understand that many fans have to pull all-nighters or wake up early just to catch our games. For the upcoming series, we aim to step up our performance significantly, reflecting what we’ve been practicing in scrimmages, so we can deliver our best on stage. A big thank you for your unwavering support!
