Aimee Lou Wood’s “punchy” BBC rom com-drama Film Club confirms release date

BBC has announced that the new romantic series, *Film Club*, starring Aimee Lou Wood (known from *The White Lotus*), Suranne Jones (*Gentleman Jack*), Ralph Davis (*House of the Dragon*), Owen Cooper (*Adolescence*), and Nabhaan Rizwan (*Juice*), will be released soon. Fans won’t have to wait long to watch it!

All episodes of the show will be available on iPlayer from 6am on Tuesday, October 7th. The first two episodes will also be shown on BBC Three that same evening.

Created by Wood and Davis, the show centers around two best friends, Evie and Noa, who have a tradition of spending every Friday night watching movies together in Evie’s uniquely decorated garage.

What to Read Next

Evie has been housebound for six months after experiencing a difficult emotional episode. Now, her friend Noa is moving across the country, forcing Evie to think about their connection and whether it’s more than just a friendship.

Jones plays Evie’s mother, Suz, Davis joins the cast as Dominic, a new member of the film club, and Cooper is Callum, the often-irritating neighbor.

Wood shared that she and Davis had been developing *Film Club* for ten years, and she was thrilled to be working with the incredibly talented Rizwan and Jones.

Jones shared her admiration for Aimee, saying she’s been a fan for some time and appreciates her authenticity, humor, and talent. She wasn’t surprised that the script Aimee and Ralph Davis wrote together was equally impressive – smart, heartwarming, and lively.

Emma Wood, known for her role in *Sex Education*, has a close working relationship with BBC Three. She also stars in the sitcom *Daddy Issues*, which will be returning for another season shortly.

Featuring David Morrissey, the series centers around a strained father-daughter relationship as they’re forced to share an apartment due to difficult circumstances.

This year, Meghann Fahy gained even more international recognition for her role in the third season of *The White Lotus*. However, she publicly criticized a *Saturday Night Live* sketch, saying it unfairly focused on her and felt unnecessarily harsh.

I’m proud of my gap teeth – they’re not a flaw. I get that *Saturday Night Live* uses exaggeration for comedy, but the rest of the sketch felt unfair. It seemed like Chelsea and I were the only ones being made fun of, rather than the people in power.

Film Club premieres on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three on 7 October.
