The highly-rated BBC sitcom Daddy Issues, starring Aimee Lou Wood, has released a trailer for its second season. The new season will follow Gemma as she navigates life with a new baby, and is expected to air soon.
The series, which premiered last year, centers around a woman named Gemma who unexpectedly moves in with her father while pregnant. The first season concluded with Gemma giving birth to her daughter, Sadie.
I just saw the teaser and I’m already hooked! The main character says there’s this ‘fire inside’ her – she’s really determined to do everything she can for her new baby. But it looks like things aren’t going to be easy, and there’s a lot of drama coming, especially with her husband, Malcolm (played by David Morrissey)!

Featuring Sarah Hadland (from Miranda), Sharon Rooney (My Mad Fat Diary), Taj Atwal (Line of Duty), and Sherrie Hewson (Hollyoaks), the comedy series Daddy Issues was quickly renewed for a second season after it first aired in 2024.
Wood shared that working on “Daddy Issues” was the most enjoyable experience of his career, and he’s eager to work on it again.

I can’t wait to see what Danielle Ward has planned for Malcolm, Gemma, Sadie, and all their friends! I have a feeling it’s going to be both funny and really touching.
Series creator Ward expressed his surprise at learning about a second series through a press release, calling it ‘unbelievable.’ He’s excited to write for Aimee, David, and the rest of the cast again, and looks forward to continuing the story of the Moscrips. He also admitted it was good to have had a short break.
The comedy received perfect reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, and The Times highlighted its fantastic cast and hilarious jokes.

Reviewers have praised Daddy Issues for its engaging lead actors and heartwarming, yet surprisingly sharp, humor. The Independent described it as a ‘warm hug of a show with just enough edge,’ and The Guardian called it ‘daft, honest, funny and tinged with bleakness’.
The London Evening Standard praised Daddy Issues as a clever, heartwarming, and consistently funny story about being a parent, the bonds of female friendship, and navigating mid-life challenges.
The popular series “Daddy Issues” is coming back to BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. You can currently watch the first season on BBC iPlayer.
