Aimee Lou Wood says ‘SNL’ apologized for ‘White Lotus’ parody that ‘punched down’
Actress Aimee Lou Wood from the UK didn’t appreciate the “Saturday Night Live” skit that was performed recently.
Fan favorite from “The White Lotus” Season 3 expressed her displeasure on Sunday about an episode of the NBC comedy show that made fun of her appearance by depicting characters from the Trump administration in roles for the popular HBO series. Wood, whose teeth and character from “White Lotus” were ridiculed, stated in a now-expired Instagram post that she thought the sketch was both mean-spirited and not funny.
In a pre-recorded “White Potus” segment, Jon Hamm, the SNL guest host, mimicked Robert F. Kennedy Jr., but with elements of Walton Goggins’ quirky hotel character Rick. Meanwhile, Sarah Sherman, an SNL cast member, played a fictional Chelsea character (not a real person from Trump’s inner circle). The sketch then focused on Sherman’s portrayal of this fictional Chelsea after Hamm’s RFK Jr. expressed views on removing fluoride from drinking water.
Sherman, sporting a wig and oversized false teeth, queries, ‘What’s this fluoride?’ In an uncanny imitation of the character she played on ‘White Lotus,’ Sherman exaggerates Wood’s voice and mannerisms, widening her eyes and puckering her lips, her prominent front teeth adding to the impression.

In this new installment, we saw a chilly start, a playful imitation of ‘The White Lotus,’ and a recurring focus on Trump’s trade dispute, with Jon Hamm as our host.
As a devoted admirer, I must say that during “White Lotus” Season 3, the remarkable performance by “Sex Education” alumna Wood left an indelible mark on me. Her unique, unaltered teeth have resonated deeply with viewers, especially amidst the increasing trend of veneers. In a recent podcast interview, she shared that the appreciation for her teeth is a profound full-circle moment, having been bullied about them for years, but now finding acceptance and love from audiences everywhere.
Following her expression of disappointment, Wood shared on Instagram Stories on Sunday that “SNL” has apologized to her, and she went on to clarify the reasons behind her dissatisfaction with the sketch. A representative for “SNL” did not provide a response to The Times’ request for comment until Monday.

Wood, at 31 years old, shared on Instagram that he’s not sensitive to criticism. He even enjoys it when it’s witty and done with a friendly tone.
She added: “However, the humor was centered around fluoride. It’s my gap teeth, not my bad teeth. I can handle being caricatured – that’s what ‘SNL’ is for. But the rest of the skit seemed to be making fun of others while I was the only one who was targeted.
In a satirical manner, the characters from the diverse ensemble of “White Lotus” took jabs at various individuals, including members of the U.S. first family, as well as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, to name a few.

The performer discussed the audience’s reaction to Chelsea’s outcome in the final episode, her bond with Saxon, as well as their shared ideas on how they envisioned their characters crossing paths with Walton Goggins.
Additionally, Wood made it clear through another Instagram post that there was no disagreement between her and Sherman, who presented an unfavorable depiction. In her words, she expressed dislike towards the idea itself, stating “disapproval of the concept.
Despite his dislike for the “White President”, Wood’s co-star Goggins found the “SNL” post showcasing the sketch to be “simply fantastic”. Goggins’ praise of “SNL” comes amid rumors of a backstage disagreement between him and Wood. In an interview with The Times published last week, Wood described her experience on “The White Lotus” as “incredibly deep, incredibly profound, incredibly complex.
Wood also said she thought the bloody fate of her character in the season final was “perfect.”
She mentioned that her vitality and mortality seem equally strong, as if they’re both constantly in high gear.
