Aimee Lou Wood blasts “mean and unfunny” SNL parody that joked about her teeth
Aimee Lou Wood, who stars in The White Lotus’s upcoming third season, has spoken out against Saturday Night Live for their supposedly unkind depiction of her during a recent sketch.
In the recently aired installment of the popular American sitcom, there was a satirical skit titled ‘The White President’, featuring actors portraying Donald Trump, his relatives, and political associates enjoying their vacation at an extravagant Thai resort.
The vast majority of the humor revolved around political satire, although there were a few exceptions. Notably, cast member Sarah Sherman portrayed a caricature of Wood’s character Chelsea, complete with fake teeth, an over-the-top accent, and a remark implying she was unfamiliar with fluoride.

Following the broadcast of the sketch, Wood expressed on her Instagram Stories that she found the Saturday Night Live (SNL) episode to be both harsh and lacking in humor.
She mentioned, “It’s too bad because I enjoyed it so much a few weeks back.” She continued, “Indeed, the show does have its funny moments, but there should be a more intelligent, subtler, and less crude approach to it instead!
As a passionate admirer, I’d like to rephrase the statement in a more personal and engaging way:
I, as a devoted fan, shared numerous messages I received from my fellow enthusiasts, who voiced their concerns over a particular sketch’s depiction of her. Furthermore, I added a private note to a fan message, expressing my thoughts about the less-than-perfect portrayal of Sherman’s Manchester accent in that piece.
As a dedicated gamer, let me stress the importance of getting those accents spot on. Authenticity matters to me, even when it might come off as harsh, I can’t help but chuckle 😂.
In a future account, Wood stated: “I don’t have a sensitive disposition. In fact, I enjoy lighthearted ribbing when it’s intelligent and positive. However, the humor was centered around fluoride.
I have large gaps between my teeth, not bad teeth overall. I don’t take offense to being caricatured – I get that it’s what SNL is about. However, the rest of the sketch seemed to be making fun in a positive way, but only me (or Chelsea) was the target of the negative humor.
Wood clarified that she didn’t hold any personal animosity towards Sherman, nor did she blame him. However, she expressed disdain for the idea itself, aligning with a spectator’s remark that deemed it a manifestation of 1970s misogyny.
The star also confirmed that SNL has apologised to her.
In the United States, Saturday Night Live is broadcast on NBC and available for streaming on Peacock, whereas The White Lotus season 3 has concluded its run on HBO and can be found streaming on Max. Meanwhile, in the UK, both shows are streamable via Sky or NOW.
