As a seasoned viewer of various television series and films, I must say that the upcoming BBC production, “Film Club,” has piqued my interest significantly. The unique blend of humor, emotion, and family dynamics promised by this show resonates deeply with me, given my extensive experience in observing such elements in numerous productions over the years.

On a Manchester set, Aimee Lou Wood and Suranne Jones were recently seen working side by side for the initial time on a brand-new television production, on a Wednesday.

The pair have joined the star-studded cast of the upcoming BBC rom-com series, Flight Club.

Actress Aimee, age 29, appeared quite different from her typical glamorous image, opting for a relaxed look with beige pants and a white shirt.

The group members donned blue polo shirts, while their long, wavy hair was neatly gathered into high buns using hairpins with a grip-like design.

As she strolled through her front yard, clutching oversized lollipop props, the star seemed lost in contemplation.

Meanwhile, Suranne was seen hiding behind a curtain on the first floor of the building.

The star pulled a concerned expression as she appeared to look down at the front garden.

Flight Club is a six-part drama which marks the screenwriting debut of Aimee and actor Ralph Davis.

The story follows Evie (Aimee), who has been housebound for half a year after a ‘wobble’.

She runs a film club in her garage every week, where her best friend Noa (Nabhaan Rizwan) joins her for a night of escapism.

However, an employment opportunity arises for Noa that requires him to travel nationwide, prompting them both to contemplate whether their relationship extends beyond friendship.

Suranne plays Evie’s eccentric and unconventional mother, Suz.

On a Friday evening, at 7 pm, during Film Club’s 198th week, Evie, who has been confined indoors for half a year following a setback, finds solace in the cinema as an escape.

Each week offers an opportunity to weave magic, transform the garage according to a film’s whim, and enjoy undisturbed moments with Noa – a cherished friend and one of the rare companions who consistently joins in.

Tonight, however, things have shifted. Noa has some significant news to share. An exciting job opportunity has arisen on the opposite side of the country, and as a result, this chapter in our lives is coming to an end. The gravity of this situation is starting to sink in.

For the first time, they may find themselves contemplating the possibility that their friendship could mean something more profound. Neither of them is particularly adept at handling emotions, but this situation seems to be stirring feelings that might be too strong to overlook.

In the midst of life’s complexities, I find myself immersed in the whirlwind of Evie’s family abode, a place brimming with eccentricity. I share this space with Suz, her fiercely loving single mom, Izzie, my cherished sister, and Josh, the dashing man who occasionally assumes the role of head honcho.

The Film Club revolves around themes of love and family, exploring the dilemma between following one’s emotions or logic, and the complexities that arise when loving a friend.

Regarding the show, Aimee, who is both its co-creator and lead actor, expressed her excitement: ‘I’m delighted that after a decade of work, our cherished TV series Film Club finally begins filming this week.’

‘We couldn’t be more excited, and grateful, to the incredible team we have assembled with the BBC.

It’s truly an honor for me to work with Nabhaan and Suranne, two talented actors I have long respected, and make our collaboration come alive.

For some time now, Suranne has been admiring Aimee. She finds her authentic, humorous, and incredibly talented, so it came as no shock to Suranne that the script co-written by Aimee and Ralph Davis was equally impressive.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I’m absolutely thrilled about this upcoming project! It’s intelligent, endearing, and packed with a punch – qualities that truly resonate with me. I can hardly contain my excitement as I eagerly anticipate stepping into the role of a ‘tiger mom’, a responsibility that fills me with both pride and anticipation. To top it all off, I get to film in my beloved hometown! This is going to be an unforgettable journey, one I can’t wait to embark on.

Film Club will air next year on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.
