Aidan Turner with his shirt on! Poldark star is dapper in a suit at Rivals gala screening after teasing his racy scenes in anticipated new show
As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for quality entertainment and a soft spot for British period dramas, I must say that Aidan Turner‘s latest project, Rivals, has piqued my interest immensely. Having grown up on the delightful Cornish landscapes portrayed in Poldark, it’s intriguing to see how the actor will continue to captivate audiences with his charisma and charm in this new endeavor.
On Tuesday evening, Aidan Turner graced the event with an elegant presence at the London premiere of his latest series, titled Rivals.
As a lifestyle aficionado, I recently found myself gracing the red carpet alongside my esteemed co-star Bella Maclean. You see, we were there to celebrate the much-anticipated return of our beloved series, inspired by none other than Jilly Cooper’s captivating ‘bonkbuster’. In the days leading up to this grand event, I couldn’t help but share a few tantalizing tidbits about my role in the show. After all, who wouldn’t be excited to unveil their part in such an eagerly awaited production?
As your go-to lifestyle guide, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Prepare for a hearty chuckle, as I’ll be delightfully referencing my iconic character, the charmingly shirtless Ross Poldark from Rivals – yes, that Cornish hunk you’ve grown fond of!
In 2015, the actor gained widespread recognition and became a heartthrob, playing the leading role in the BBC’s reboot of Poldark.
And now, the star will be stripping off again in his new Disney+ series.
1986 serves as the backdrop for this tale, delving into the ruthless realm of television industry. It highlights the intense competition between Rupert Campbell-Black, portrayed by Alex Hassell, and Lord Tony Baddingham, brought to life by David Tennant.
As a die-hard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming series where Aidan breathes life into the brilliant TV personality, Declan O’Hara. The plot unfolds with Declan being persuaded to depart from the BBC and join Corinium, only to later feel betrayed in some way.
Interestingly, one of the fictitious TV shows included in the series goes by the name “Four Men Went to Mow,” a show where farmers perform their duties without shirts on.
And in one very ironic scene, Aidan even yells: ‘TV can’t just be men taking their tops off!’
In a chat with The Times Culture Magazine, the actor playfully commented about the script: “When I first read it, I thought, ‘What is this doing here? This seems awfully similar to Poldark.’
However, they informed me it was from the initial texts, and it turned out to be quite amusing. The first time I enacted that scene, it prompted laughter. It’s enjoyable to make light of such situations.
Critics are praising “Rivals” as a ‘thrilling romantic drama,’ following an influx of early reviews for Jilly Cooper’s steamy television adaptation.
Critics have all agreed that the ‘vivacious’ new show from Disney+ will leave viewers blushing, cackling and rewinding.
According to Jane Fryer from The Mail, this eight-episode series received a perfect five-star rating. She described the show as starting with an abundance of sex, strong language, nudity, and witty, humorous entertainment that viewers will find hard to look away from.
