Ahsoka Season 2 Confirms Return of Major Star Wars Character Missing From Season 1

The upcoming second season of Ahsoka will include a key element that’s been central to Star Wars since the very first movie in 1977, surprisingly absent from season one. For nearly 50 years, Star Wars has become known for certain iconic things. Lightsabers, the Millennium Falcon, and characters like Darth Vader and Yoda are instantly recognizable, even to people who aren’t fans of the series.

Eman Esfandi, who plays Ezra Bridger in the show Ahsoka, recently posted on Instagram that a popular element missing from the first season will be included in the upcoming second season.

The video Esfandi posted showed two extras on the set of Ahsoka Season 2 dressed as classic stormtroopers. While they weren’t wearing helmets, their white armor and other details clearly identified them as the original stormtroopers from the first Star Wars trilogy.

Interestingly, regular stormtroopers weren’t featured in Season 1 of Ahsoka, even though the show focused on what was left of the Galactic Empire. While Grand Admiral Thrawn and his Night Troopers were present, these soldiers were undead and their armor was damaged or altered.

The people in the Instagram video are wearing pristine Stormtrooper costumes, and they appear to be brand new.

In Season 2, Thrawn will reconnect with key Imperial figures from the past. He plans to attack the New Republic using his Night Troopers and any remaining loyal stormtroopers.

Stormtroopers weren’t featured in the first season, so fans of Star Wars will likely be thrilled to see them now. They’ve been a key part of the Star Wars universe since the very first scene in 1977, and are instantly recognizable – even to people who aren’t familiar with the franchise.

At Star Wars Celebration 2025, a brief preview of Ahsoka Season 2 was revealed. One image showed Grand Admiral Thrawn on a ship’s bridge, with Imperial stormtroopers battling forces from the New Republic.

Stormtroopers will be back in Season 2 of Ahsoka. The new season will largely center around Grand Admiral Thrawn’s conflict with the New Republic, and stormtroopers are expected to play a significant part in the Disney+ series.

Other Star Wars Elements That Weren’t in Season 1 That Will Be in Ahsoka Season 2

Zeb

With the exception of Kanan Jarrus, who passed away in Rebels, Zeb was the only original member of the Ghost crew missing from Season 1 of Ahsoka. Before Season 2 of Ahsoka arrives, Zeb will make an appearance in The Mandalorian & Grogu. But, the recent teaser trailer at Star Wars Celebration confirmed that Zeb will also be part of Ahsoka Season 2 in some way.

Okay, so we don’t know exactly how big Zeb’s role will be in Season 2, but I’m pretty sure we’re going to see the whole Ghost crew back together at some point – that’d be amazing! And honestly, bringing Zeb back feels like a smart move to connect The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. Both shows are happening in the same timeline, you know, the ‘MandoVerse’, and Zeb could be the character who really ties everything together. I’m excited to see how it plays out!

Dathomir

The Nightsisters of Dathomir played a key role in the first season of Ahsoka, and they’ll be back for season two. This time, we’ll also see more of their home world, Dathomir.

Dathomir, the home world of the well-known Star Wars character Maul, will be prominently featured in live-action for the first time in Season 2 of Ahsoka. While Dathomir has appeared in Star Wars animated series and video games previously, this will be its biggest appearance yet, and a new Disney+ series focused on Maul is planned for 2026.

Mortis Gods

Although the Mortis gods didn’t physically appear in Ahsoka Season 1, they were referenced – Baylan Skoll stood on a statue of the Father on Peridea in the finale. Season 2 is expected to feature a more direct appearance from them.

Throughout Season 1, hints suggested the Mortis gods would be important in Season 2. Series creator Dave Filoni has confirmed they’ll appear in the story, and it’s possible they – or even a powerful being named Abeloth – are who Baylan Skoll was seeking at the end of the first season.

The Mortis gods have been featured in The Clone Wars, and their existence was talked about in Rebels.
