Agent Tyler Booth is sticking around in FBI: International and here's how

As a dedicated fan of FBI: International who’s seen more than a few episodes of this gripping series, I must say, I’m thrilled to see Agent Tyler Booth sticking around for a while. With his knack for getting into tricky situations and his uncanny ability to come out on top, he’s become one of my favorite characters.

I’m thrilled to share that you’ll be seeing more of me, Agent Tyler Booth, in the fourth season of FBI: International! It looks like Jay Hayden’s character will be gracing our screens for some time yet.

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for FBI: International season 4, episode 7

In Budapest, Hayden’s character, named Tyler, showed up following an orchestrated move involving the ex-wife of a man. As planned, things with the trap didn’t go as expected, but Tyler had anticipated such complications. With Wes’s assistance, Tyler was able to claim credit for a successfully resolved case, which finally gave his career the boost it needed.

Before landing his next major opportunity, he experiences a “chance.” However, as Tyler described it, being part of the Fly Team is far from a chance; rather, it’s more like hard work. It seems that Tyler intends to stay involved.

Tyler will be with the Fly Team for 90 Days in FBI: International

From what we understand, Tyler will be with the Fly Team for 90 days. However, it’s not certain how this correlates to the filming world since the show typically adheres to our regular calendar. This suggests that by the time the series resumes in the winter, approximately a month should have already passed with Tyler on the Fly Team.

While Tyler ponders his next steps, he’s presently around. Due to Wes’ assistance, Tyler received recognition for the recent case, which served to erase an old blemish on his record from a past operation that may resurface in the future. This operation had temporarily halted Tyler’s career progression, whereas Wes was able to move forward. Noting that Tyler had once rescued him, this situation presented an opportunity for Wes to reciprocate.

Despite not having any time off, Tyler continues to work with the Fly Team. It would be beneficial for him to find a middle ground with Wes, who holds the leadership position. Remember, Tyler hasn’t reached GS-14 status like Wes does, but there’s an opportunity for him to achieve that in the future.

Will Tyler be part of FBI: International permanently?

Is there a chance that the temporary collaboration with the Fly Team might become long-term? It’s difficult to predict, but it seems unlikely at this point. Jay Hayden initially joined the series as a recurring guest actor, and there hasn’t been any indication yet that he may be promoted to a permanent cast member.

It’s possible that the reason for the difference in character development between FBI and FBI: International is due to the fact that the latter was only renewed for one season, whereas the former was renewed for three. This could suggest that the writers are being more cautious with their long-term planning.

In order to maintain a sense of authenticity in its narrative, the show must strike a balance between realism and creativity. The FBI realm is known for its swift pace; agents frequently change their areas of focus, particularly as they advance up the ranks. However, joining the Fly Team at present could provide Tyler with an opportunity for continued involvement, assuming the plotline permits it.

FBI: International airs on Tuesdays at 9/8c on CBS. Catch up the following day on Paramount+.
