Agatha All Along is a Marvel series and story that really doesn't need to be told

As a long-time fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I have grown accustomed to the thrill of watching my favorite superheroes come to life on the big screen. However, with the MCU’s recent shift to Disney’s home television platform, I can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment and frustration. The MCU’s latest offering, “Agatha All Along,” is a spin-off series following the character Agatha Harkness from WandaVision.

When Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) shifted from the big screen to Disney’s television screens at home, it appeared as if Disney was onto something truly impressive. However, just as Disney has reportedly disrupted the Star Wars storyline with their Disney+ small-screen series, MCU seems to have followed suit in a questionable move.

As a long-time fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), I’ve grown accustomed to the excitement that comes with anticipating the next big thing in the franchise. But lately, my expectations have been thrown for a loop. You see, I was looking forward to the next Captain America film with bated breath, eagerly waiting to see where Steve Rogers’ story would go next.

WandaVision was logically constructed. It transported audiences into Wanda’s psyche following Vision’s demise at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. Through the series, we witness Wanda bringing Vision back to life in her own way. Furthermore, WandaVision paved the path for Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness within the MCU narrative.

not every Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) character requires their own film or TV show. The lessons from the disappointing box office performance of shows like She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel seem to have been overlooked by Disney and Marvel. The cross-over between Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel did not succeed financially, potentially harming the narrative of Captain Marvel’s story. We are witnessing similar situations recur.

Can Agatha: All Along be successful? The title has undergone several revisions, and the narrative didn’t resonate deeply with many viewers. While some fans are intrigued by the upcoming spin-off, Agatha: House of Harken is another MCU production that may not gain widespread acceptance among casual audiences. Few are familiar with her character or the premise beyond her brief appearance in WandaVision.

Disney hopes that the introduction of a new witch character will attract fresh subscribers by offering something novel and intriguing. Let’s see if their plan pays off.
