Story Highlights

  • Afterglow is a post-apocalyptic MMORPG set 77 years after a nuclear war, built for players with busy schedules.
  • The game features a 1980s theme, diverse factions, semi-idle play, a player-driven economy, rich quests, hidden secrets, PvP with territory control, and no pay-to-win.
  • You can now sign up for the closed alpha and experience the game ahead of its launch later this year.

Shadow Council Private Limited has revealed that their 2D sandbox survival MMORPG titled “Afterglow”, developed by an independent studio, will be releasing on Android and iOS platforms later this year. The game is presently undergoing closed alpha testing on mobile devices, and interested individuals can apply for the opportunity to participate in this test.

Shape your fate in a devastated American Southwest in Afterglow

In the aftermath of a catastrophic nuclear apocalypse that ravaged the Earth 77 years ago, Afterglow is an engaging MMORPG tailored for busy gamers. You assume the role of a displaced person, embarking on a fresh journey through the post-apocalyptic American Southwest to carve out your own fate in this unforgiving world.

As you struggle to thrive in this post-apocalyptic setting, you’ll stumble upon enigmatic items and occurrences that have transformed the wasteland. You can control up to three characters to gather resources, craft items, or engage in combat across a common open world. Even when you step away, your team continues to work, offering a semi-automated experience without being fully idle.

Strategic combat, flexible play, and no pay-to-win in a rich retro-themed 1980s world

The game is particularly suited for those with hectic schedules, boasting a flexible offline progression system, minimal required social interactions, no time-limited content, and tactical turn-based battles that allow optional player input. I can’t wait to take advantage of its extensive collection of weapon and armor varieties to encounter diverse monsters exhibiting unique abilities and behaviors.

The game appears highly intriguing with its 1980s motif, diverse factions, semi-automated gameplay, economy influenced by player decisions, abundant storylines, quests, concealed treasures, and enigmatic CELL entities. It also features PvP combat centered around territory control, and a notable absence of pay-to-win mechanisms. This setup has piqued my interest to give the game a go.

This year, the game titled Afterglow will debut on both Android and iOS devices. At present, it’s being tested in a closed alpha phase. If you’re interested in trying it out, you can submit an application via the playtesting access request form. If chosen, follow their testing guide to ensure the game runs flawlessly.
