Data from analytics platform Luminate shows that “Younger” held seven spots within Netflix’s U.S. Top 10 from January to May this year, indicating significant success on the streaming service. It seems that creator Darren Star envisioned this popularity even during production, as he told an outlet that the show was designed for binge-watching and each episode ended with a cliffhanger.

If the popularity of “Younger” on Netflix continues, there could potentially be more episodes, much like how “Manifest” and “Lucifer” received additional seasons due to viewership. However, whether this will happen depends on various factors, including continued audience interest. Star’s comments about a potential revival imply that everything needs to fall into place perfectly for it to come to fruition. The executive producer stated:

I’m considering bringing the project back to life, and I can tell you, it’s something the entire cast shares enthusiasm for, given the right circumstances. To be honest, the camaraderie among us during the production was extraordinary, making it a truly enjoyable experience for all involved.

Besides Sutton Foster, the series Younger also featured Debi Mazar, Nico Tortorella, Hilary Duff, Miriam Shor, and Peter Hermann. I’m eager to see Hilary Duff return to TV following the premature end of How I Met Your Father. The show initially centered around a 40-year-old woman (Foster) deceivingly posing as a 26-year-old to secure a job in publishing. Over time, it developed, concluding with Liza in a fresh role but an uncertain future. As per Darren Star, this open-ended finale suggests that Younger may have a continuation. He shared this optimistic view with the media outlet.

The situation seems indefinite and open-ended, not conclusive, but it has a sense of completion. I believe she is now the one managing the company, although it remains his, suggesting a leadership change. This implies that there’s much more to unfold; a new phase for those characters.

Darren Star has quite a track record when it comes to popular shows on Netflix, with “Emily in Paris” being one of his recent successes, though not without its share of controversy. Additionally, he’s behind hits like “Beverly Hills, 90210,” “Melrose Place,” “Sex and the City,” spinoff “And Just Like That…”, and “Uncoupled.” It’s charming to see that “Younger” continues to hold a special place in his heart, given the success of “Emily in Paris” and “And Just Like That…” as current series.
