The NCIS franchise remains popular on CBS as of the 2025 TV season, but its presence on Paramount+ has suffered a setback. The streaming service announced the cancellation of NCIS: Tony & Ziva this week. The show followed beloved characters Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, whose return fans had long requested. Understandably, many disappointed viewers are expressing their feelings and lamenting the lost potential of the series.
The show “Tiva” brought back Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo as their characters Tony and Ziva, pairing them on screen again after ten years – but only for Paramount+ subscribers. The story followed Tony and Ziva as they fled across Europe after an attack on Tony’s company. Beyond the action, the series showed fans what their lives were like after they got back together, following Ziva’s short return on NCIS and their current relationship. The story felt incomplete. We needed to see Ziva’s pregnancy and childbirth, and understand her feelings when she learned she was expecting. It would have been powerful to explore Tony and Ziva’s relationship after Tony met Tali, with more flashbacks showing their connection – especially more definitive scenes of them together on the mothership, establishing they were truly a married couple, calling each other husband and wife, and solidifying their lasting love. The story hinted at a ‘forever’ that deserved more exploration, potentially set around December 19, 2025.
The announcement of a new show bringing Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo back together felt like a dream come true for fans. For years, Weatherly had hinted at the possibility of Tony and Ziva reuniting, but it was never certain. The series finally showed the couple in a new chapter of their lives, raising their pre-teen daughter, Tali, and facing challenges both at home and in their careers.
At the season’s end, Tony and Ziva decided to try making their relationship work again. Naturally, fans are disappointed they won’t get to see what happens next and are sad to say goodbye, yet again.

The cancellation of “Tony & Ziva” was a shock to fans. The show’s trailer actually set a viewing record for Paramount+, and the “NCIS” series is still very popular. It seemed like a good idea to bring back characters fans have wanted to see together for years. It’s uncertain if the show will be picked up by another network, like CBS, but fans are clearly upset and are making their feelings known online.
Even if we don’t get a new series focused on Tony and Ziva, there’s still a chance Michael Weatherly and Paula de Pablo could return as their characters on the original NCIS show or NCIS: Sydney. They even recently met with the cast of NCIS: Sydney, suggesting continued possibilities. It’s obvious fans enjoyed seeing Tony and Ziva reunited, and many feel the recent ten-episode arc wasn’t long enough.
It’s unclear whether the strong fan reaction will lead Paramount+ to change its mind or CBS to revive the show. For now, fans are left to wonder what might have happened with Tony and Ziva’s story.
