Despite being cancelled by Amazon last year, The Wheel of Time is set for a revival. The company that owns the rights to the series, iwot Studios, has joined forces with Thomas Vu, a producer known for Arcane, and Anthony Borquez’s Initiate Entertainment. Together, they plan to create a video game, animated movies, and a new animated TV show, all based on The Wheel of Time.
Vu expressed great excitement about the potential to build on The Wheel of Time with immersive, interactive stories and animation. He believes the rich mythology of the series will allow it to expand into a long-lasting, multi-platform franchise, as he told Variety.
Rick Selvage, CEO of iwot studios, expressed excitement about collaborating with Thomas and Anthony to deliver the next installment of The Wheel of Time to viewers globally.

Amazon Studios created the fantasy series The Wheel of Time, based on the novels by Robert Jordan. The first season launched in November 2021 and featured a talented cast including Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, Madeleine Madden, Josha Stradowski, and Sophie Okonedo. Rafe Judkins led the show as showrunner.
The TV series The Wheel of Time received positive reviews over its three seasons. The first season currently has an 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the second and third seasons earning even higher scores of 86% and 97% respectively.

The third and final season of the series has been hailed as its strongest yet, receiving exceptionally positive reviews. Toisto.net praised it, calling The Wheel of Time one of the best fantasy series available and describing it as a vibrant, captivating epic that successfully adapts Jordan’s massive book series.

According to Empire Magazine, this series surpasses The Witcher, is more exciting than The Rings of Power, and feels more original than House of the Dragon. They believe it’s the best possible adaptation of Robert Jordan’s famously difficult-to-adapt book saga.
Despite lasting for three seasons, Amazon cancelled The Wheel of Time in May 2025, citing financial concerns as the reason, according to Deadline.
Showrunner Rafe Judkins shared his disappointment on Instagram after hearing the news of the cancellation, calling it a “devastating blow” for everyone involved in the show. He believes the story and its fans deserved a proper conclusion, and he’s hopeful that The Wheel of Time will be picked up by another network.
The Wheel of Time streams on Prime Video.
