After Ashley Tisdale calls mom group ‘too high school,’ Hilary Duff’s hubby throws a stink bomb

It’s a good thing some people aren’t millennial moms – just look at the drama surrounding Ashley Tisdale‘s mommy group! It’s definitely a reminder of why some prefer to avoid that particular scene.

It seems Ashley Tisdale, now Ashley Tisdale French, is still caught up in memories of her “High School Musical” days, and Hilary Duff’s husband is causing some drama – like a prank gone wrong at school.

Sarah Hyland, Ashley Tisdale, and Molly Sims recently shared with The Times details about the businesses they’re pursuing beyond acting.

I’m hearing whispers that Hilary Duff and Mandy Moore might also be joining in on the fun, but Ashley Tisdale is being so frustratingly secretive and won’t confirm anything! It’s killing me to not know for sure.

The former child star shared in an essay for New York Magazine—something she’d previously discussed on her blog—that people often focus on the most unexpected things from her past. She explained that even casual comments she makes can quickly become news or a trending topic on TikTok.

According to the article, actress Tisdale French, married to composer Christopher French since 2014, was expecting a baby during the pandemic. This meant she couldn’t experience typical pre- and post-natal activities like baby showers, prenatal yoga, or letting friends and family meet her new baby. Fortunately, a friend helped her connect with other new mothers.

Ashley Tisdale is getting down to business.

She wrote that being together with her family – and having their children together – finally felt perfect.

The creator of Being Frenshe skincare believed she was connecting with a trendy and exciting community.

It was really encouraging to connect with other mothers who get the struggle of juggling breastfeeding or feeding a baby with work meetings on Zoom.

She literally called them cool.

Seeing these successful women juggle fulfilling careers and family life gave me hope that I could find that balance too. We even thought we could learn from each other and share what worked for us.

Mandy Moore has criticized Amazon after a package was delivered to the ruins of her in-laws’ house in Altadena, which was burned down in the Eaton fire. She urged the company to ‘do better.’

Then social media burst her bubble.

I felt hurt when I wasn’t invited to a few gatherings with friends, and Instagram just rubbed salt in the wound by showing me pictures and stories from them.

She wrote that she realized her mommy group was just like high school.

Even after many years, being excluded still felt just as painful as it did in tenth grade.

But now she was a grown-up, so she took a stand.

The recent historic fires in Los Angeles County have impacted many residents, including well-known figures like Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore, Jeff Bridges, Mel Gibson, and Britney Spears.

I was really frustrated after being excluded from another group outing, so I texted everyone, saying I didn’t want to participate in their childish behavior anymore.

She explained that the response was negative. One mother sent flowers but then ignored her thank-you note. Another seemed surprised, saying she hadn’t realized she hadn’t been invited.

I’ve been reading this really powerful series called “It’s Been a Year,” and it’s been incredibly moving. One essay is about a woman who discovered a huge family secret through a DNA test – it totally changed her understanding of who she was. Another piece is from Rebecca Gayheart, and it’s so raw and honest about navigating her husband Eric Dane’s ALS diagnosis and being his caregiver. It’s a really emotional read, exploring how life can completely shift in unexpected ways.

The book also features a funny essay by Kathy Griffin about dating after her divorce, at age 65. In it, she playfully blames Sia and Nia Vardalos for convincing her to share some personal stories – and she even gets into a surprisingly detailed conversation about condoms.

Eric Dane discussed the future of a law – the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Act – with Congressman Eric Swalwell, as the law is scheduled to end in 2026.

But back to Tisdale French.

I often ask myself why this happened, but I doubt I’ll ever have an answer. What I do know is that it brought back a difficult, yet recognizable, emotion I believed I had overcome long ago.

She was more specific about what happened in her older blog post, by the way.

I noticed some people were creating separate group chats, and it started to feel like smaller circles were forming. Seeing pictures online of everyone hanging out together – especially when I wasn’t included – made me feel like an outsider and like I didn’t really belong.

Milo Ventimiglia and his wife, Jarah Mariano, recently welcomed their daughter, despite the difficult experience of losing two homes in the Palisades fire just weeks before.

She also shared a revelation with her blog readers.

If a mom group consistently makes you feel down, exhausted, or excluded, it’s okay to move on – even if you used to enjoy it. It’s simply not benefiting you anymore, and you don’t need to stay just because you feel obligated.

Okay, so Hilary Duff’s husband, Matthew Koma, clearly wasn’t messing around when it came to college admissions. We’ll never know how much of those application essays he actually wrote, but let me tell you, he immediately went into ‘Mean Girls’ mode and brought out the Burn Book – meaning he wasn’t afraid to call things out! It’s a funny image, and speaks to a pretty bold personality.

Koma was so upset by the situation that he created a parody on Instagram. He took a promotional post from New York Magazine that Tisdale French had shared, replacing her picture with his own and changing the headline. Instead of reading “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” his version said, “When You’re The Most Self-Obsessed, Out-of-Touch Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Focus On Their Kids.” He added a sub-headline: “A Mom Group Tell-All Through A Father’s Eyes.”

One year after Ruby Franke, a popular mom vlogger, was found guilty of abusing her children, her husband, Kevin Franke, and their two oldest children, Shari and Chad, are speaking out in a new Hulu documentary series called ‘Devil in the Family: The Fall of Ruby Franke.’

Unfortunately, he shared it as an Instagram story that’s now gone, so we only know about it through sources like People magazine, which has been covering Reddit’s “Am I the Asshole” posts for a long time. They usually summarize the story and the comments to determine if the original poster was in the wrong. (But this isn’t about anyone being a jerk, of course.)

In her essay, Tisdale French doesn’t mention anyone specifically, but Koma’s response suggests that Hilary Duff, 38, might be one of the mothers she’s referring to as being unkind. Duff and Koma also offered help to Amanda Moore, 41, and her family after a fire destroyed Moore’s home last year, leading some to believe Moore could also be part of the group of mothers Tisdale French is discussing.

Tisdale French expected people to react this way after her New York essay, as she’d seen similar speculation when she wrote about the same subject before. And according to her, all of the speculation is inaccurate.

She wrote in the magazine that many women have messaged her privately, saying they felt understood and wanting to share their personal, heartfelt experiences with her.

This has also led many people online to attempt their own investigations, pretending to be like detectives on shows like ‘CSI.’ But it’s best to leave the real detective work to the professionals, as amateur sleuthing is usually way off base.

Cool? Uncool? Christopher French, Ashley’s husband, may have made his own decision on that already.

French shared a helpful tip on Instagram Wednesday: before reacting to something, take a moment to consider if it deserves your attention and energy. The idea came from author and mindfulness coach Cory Allen.
