The Green Lanterns in DC Comics are famous for their amazing accomplishments, and the comic publisher regularly introduces new ways they can use their Power Rings. Now, with the upcoming HBO series Lanterns, DC is giving these heroes another significant power boost.
The next issue of Absolute Green Lantern, #11, by Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay, comes out on February 4, 2026. Before its release, DC has shared a sneak peek revealing a surprising new function for the power rings featured in the series.

The story resumes with Hal regaining consciousness after a three-week coma, and he’s understandably puzzled about how he was kept alive without medical attention. We soon learn that Jo Mullein has been magically feeding him using her unique Green Power.

When Hal wonders if anyone fed him while he was out, Jo admits they didn’t have the equipment to do so, and surprisingly reveals she ate his meals for him. Many readers probably pictured Jo gently spoon-feeding him, assuming that’s how she managed to eat his food on his behalf.
Jo immediately clarified the misunderstanding, explaining she hadn’t been chewing Hal’s food and spitting it into his mouth. Instead, she revealed that she’d transferred nutrients from her own body to his using the Green Power Ring – something it turns out the ring can do. While how she discovered this ability is unknown, it’s clear that DC’s Power Rings now have a newly discovered function.
Lantern Power Rings are usually known for helping their users attack and defend. That’s what makes this healing ability so unique. With HBO’s upcoming Lanterns series taking ideas from the comic books, it will be fascinating to see if this unusual Green Lantern power is included in the show’s story.
Absolute Green Lantern #11 from DC Comics is available February 4, 2026!
