The show Landman is really hitting its stride now that season two has concluded, finally delivering on its original promise. This season focused on Tommy as he adjusted to leading M-Tex Oil after Monty’s passing, facing financial challenges and trying to prevent Cami from making a deal with Gallino.
The second season of Landman ended with Cami dismissing Tommy, even though he cautioned that their current approach with M-Tex wouldn’t work long-term. Meanwhile, the main character was struggling to free Cooper from Gallino’s control while also protecting his oil operations. In a final, desperate gamble, Tommy took a big risk as the season concluded.
Tommy Will Be Competition For M-Tex & Gallino In Season 3

In the season 2 finale of Landman, Tommy negotiated a deal with Gallino worth $44 million to repay M-Tex for the land purchase, and secured an additional $18 million to fund new drilling operations. By persuading the drug cartel leader that Cooper’s plan was essential and guaranteed to succeed, Tommy managed to finalize the financial agreement without disrupting Gallino’s existing arrangement with M-Tex.
Tommy also had Nate create a limited liability company called CTT Oil Exploration & Cattle. Despite the name, the company focuses on oil – Tommy is putting Cooper’s oil rigs under its ownership. Cooper will be the President of the company, and Tommy will be Senior Vice President. Several other people – TL, Nate, Rebecca, Dale, Ariana, and Boss – will also have important positions.
Tommy is starting his own company to compete with M-Tex. Gallino is likely to benefit financially from having investments in both companies, but CTT has the potential to directly challenge M-Tex and become a strong competitor in the oil industry. This development will also finally allow the characters in Landman to begin the story arc the show has been developing throughout the series.
Landman Season 3’s New Oil Company Properly Starts The Show’s Real Story

As a huge fan of Landman, I’m really excited for season 3! It seems like Tommy is finally stepping into a leadership role at CTT, which honestly, has been hinted at since the very beginning. The show’s always shown how sharp he is when it comes to business, and especially after losing Monty, he really had to rise to the occasion. I think he’s going to do great running things himself, and with the support he’s got, I can see his company really taking off.
Season 3 really feels like where the story begins, allowing Landman to fully showcase Tommy’s potential. While building his company will undoubtedly present challenges, Tommy is set to succeed thanks to his experience and the unlikelihood of Cami achieving her goals.
