Moana Hope had an awkward moment this week when she made a noticeable mistake over the Easter long weekend.
AFLW player, 38, shared a frightening holiday story on her Instagram on Thursday that’s sure to give anyone the chills.
She shared that she’d been planning a perfect weekend getaway to Phillip Island with her kids, five-year-old Svea and three-year-old Ahi, and the rest of their family.
She shared a video explaining she’s taking her kids to Phillip Island for the long weekend, jokingly adding she needs a margarita, saying she was frustrated with herself.
‘My whole family’s going, we’re all going. It’s cute – it’s going to be such a great time.’
Moana shared that she’d booked an Airbnb by the water for the whole group, since she loves vacations by the coast.
As a lifestyle expert, I’m all about creating experiences, and recently I treated myself to a beach house! Honestly, it’s pure bliss. The best part? Stepping right from my backyard onto the sand. It’s that easy access to the ocean that really makes it special.
Moana’s planned relaxing long weekend trip took a bad turn when she verified her reservation.
She explained that she quickly gathered all the necessary information on the app, as she planned to wake up early the next day and leave with her children.
Moana laughed and said, “I just realized I accidentally booked the Airbnb for the wrong weekend when I messaged them!”
She explained that because her original booking had been cancelled, she now faced the difficult job of finding a place to stay at the last minute in the popular Victorian tourist area.
‘Now, it’s like every man and his dog’s booked Phillip Island,’ she said.
I need to find a house further away from the coast. I haven’t shared any of this with my family yet, but I’m worried they’ll be very upset when they find out.
Luckily, Moana later shared that the problem quickly resolved itself – she found a new vacation home without needing to travel further inland, as she’d worried.
‘False alarm, I got my beach Air so we’re going. I’m excited,’ she said.
This follows Moana’s recent claim that a retired female soccer player sent her a homophobic message and that she would reveal their identity publicly if they didn’t come forward.
Moana, who is openly gay, stated that a former player shared one of her Instagram photos and added a homophobic insult and laughing emojis to the caption.
Okay, so here’s what happened: instead of actually sending the message to the person it was for, this former AFLW player accidentally sent it right back to herself. It’s a total ‘oops’ moment, but we’ve all been there, right?
Moana stated she reported the player and gave her a timeframe to come forward to her previous club, otherwise she would publicly reveal the player’s identity.
‘I’m going to unblock her,’ she said on Instagram.
‘I’m going to send her this story, but I’m not going to say anything else.
I’m going to let her share this information with her organization directly.
The former AFLW forward said the woman has been given a deadline to take responsibility.
Look, I’m all about giving people a chance, and we’ve given her until Friday to handle this herself. If she doesn’t step up and take ownership of the situation by then, we’ll have to reconsider keeping things private. It really comes down to accountability, and she needs to demonstrate that she’s willing to take responsibility.
Moana hasn’t yet identified the player in question, but she has stated she’s taking steps to address the problem.
‘On a serious note, I am reporting her. There is no place for homophobia in this world.’
Hope finished the post with a message supporting LGBTQI+ people.
‘Gay love is love and there is nothing wrong with being gay and being exactly who you are.’
