AFLW star Moana Hope stuns with ‘married’ post: ‘Surprise’

AFLW star Moana Hope has teased her fans with a surprise ‘marriage’ announcement.

The 37-year-old former athlete posted a fun video on Sunday night of herself and a friend pretending to get married, complete with wedding dresses and a fake ceremony.

Oh my gosh, Moana looked absolutely breathtaking! Seriously, a stunning white dress—so elegant, but she totally owned it, playfully posing and working the ‘aisle’ like a pro. It was like she knew we were all watching and she was giving us a show, and I was living for it!

Keeping with the friendship theme, the track Best Friend by Saweetie played over the footage.

She announced with a touch of humor, ‘Well, I guess I’m getting married… again!’ The post left her followers happy and entertained.

‘You look amazing in that dress… the look on your face is pure gold,’ one fan gushed.

‘Wow, talk about giving the audience what they want! Don’t change anything though!’ a second added.

‘You look great in that dress!’ a third chimed in.

Moana, who has two children – Svea, age four, and Ahi, age two – with her former wife Isabella Carlstrom, recently shared a funny post. This comes after her relationship with girlfriend Maria Thattil ended earlier this year following a year and a half together.

For months, there had been speculation that the couple was separating, especially since they didn’t celebrate Christmas together in 2024.

In February, Maria told News Corp that she and her partner were still together, dismissing rumors to the contrary as just that – rumors. She stated plainly, ‘I’m not single.’

We’re feeling positive and enthusiastic about the year ahead, especially 2025. We’re focusing on our own growth and haven’t released any new projects yet, but we’re confident things are moving in a great direction.

But just a week after that, Confidential reported that the couple had broken up quietly, following weeks of rumors about a split.

Although Moana and Maria hadn’t publicly announced they were splitting up, they showed up at the Glamour on the Grid party in Albert Park in March as individuals, suggesting they were no longer together.

Maria confirmed the couple had split up, but stated there was no animosity between them.

‘We are on amazing terms and spent some of the evening together. All is well,’ she said.

Moana and Maria had been dating for several months and were already living together. Last November, Moana suggested a proposal was coming soon.

The couple looked deeply in love as they shared glamorous photos from their night at the Marie Claire Women of the Year Awards on Instagram.

In one photo, Moana even appeared to be about to get down on bended knee and pop the question.

People commented on the photos, pointing out how romantic they were, and one fan jokingly asked where the wedding invitations were.

Moana was quick to reply to the curious follower, ‘Watch this space!’, along with a laughing emoji.
