As a dedicated follower, I must say, Jobe Watson‘s journey from the bustling streets of New York to the tranquil suburbs of Melbourne is nothing short of inspiring. From being a suspended AFL star to becoming a loving husband and father, his life has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and downs.

Jobe Watson has set the date for his upcoming wedding.

The former Essendon football star proposed to his partner Virginia Slaghekke in September last year.

And now the pair are set to walk down the aisle together in March.

Watson mentioned on the Swanny And Friends podcast that he was organizing a joint 40th birthday and bachelor party, which will take place in Queenstown.

Having lived through numerous milestones in my life, I’ve learned that combining celebrations can often make for a more memorable event. So, with March fast approaching and my birthday in February, I figured why not kill two birds with one stone? This year, instead of separate parties for my 40th and bachelor party, I’m choosing to have them both in the same location – somewhere warm and exciting. After all, life is short, and making the most of these moments is essential.

Last year, the happy parents of three – Juniper, Wolf, and Lilou – publicly shared their exciting engagement news on social media platforms, displaying Virginia’s stunning diamond ring.

Their love story began when they first crossed paths at a New York café in 2016.

Since then, Dutch model Virginia has relocated to Australia to share life with her partner Jobe, who is 39 years old. Together, they have established a new life Down Under.

Jobe Watson Jr., following in the footsteps of his legendary father Tim Watson, carved out a unique identity by leading the Essendon Australian Rules Football team as their captain.

Previously, the ex-AFL player happened to be taking a break in New York City. It was during this time that he encountered Slaghekke, a model who had previously been associated with Donald Trump’s modeling firm.

In the 2012 AFL season, Watson was among the 34 athletes who were temporarily barred from playing due to the revelation that they had used the prohibited drug AOD-9604.

He acknowledged using the drug, yet he clarified that he’d been told by the club that the particular substance was deemed legal.

In 2016, Watson, like several other players, was temporarily barred from participating in the season, and he was compelled to return the Brownlow Medal he had won in 2012, which is given annually to the most outstanding player of the season.

During his suspension, he relocated to New York, taking up a job as a barista there. It was during this time that he crossed paths with the woman who later became the mother of his children.

2017 saw Watson back on the field for the AFL season, but he subsequently decided to hang up his boots and now works as a commentator for Channel Seven.

Simultaneously, Slaghekke continued her academic journey, earning a degree in biomedical sciences. Later on, she shifted her focus to the field of clinical psychology.

The engaged couple currently reside in Melbourne, with Watson also employed in the property management sector there.
