The couple welcomed a baby boy in February last year after their miscarriage heartbreak.

The popular AFL player, aged 33, took to Instagram at the time to delightfully announce the arrival of his newborn to his 49,000 fans in an endearing social media post.

I’m thrilled to share some exciting news: come August 2023, my partner Madi and I will welcome our first child – a rainbow baby – into our lives. This joyful announcement comes after a heart-wrenching experience of a missed miscarriage that we faced together.

The footballer also lost a child with his ex-wife Amie in 2018.

Sharing a joyous moment, Gary posted a picture of him and Madi grinning widely while holding their newly born son peacefully sleeping in his stroller, announcing the arrival of their child.

In a related note, Gary affirmed the arrival of our small family member by stating: ‘It’s time for us to be home with our tiny guy.’

The man, beaming with fatherly pride (having daughters Sadie and Bella with his former spouse Amie as well), hasn’t disclosed the newborn son’s name or the exact date of his arrival yet.

Swiftly, his friends and admirers flooded the comment area to send their heartfelt congratulations to the joyous pair.

In an Instagram post shared in August 2023, it was confirmed by Gary, a Geelong Cats player, that he and his partner Madi are expecting a baby together.

As I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my little one, I can’t help but share this beautiful glimpse into our journey – a sonogram snapshot of my growing “Rohan”. He or she is our precious ‘rainbow baby’, a testament to hope and new beginnings.

He went on saying: “That seemingly endless trek towards the moment I’d hear your heartbeat, was undeniably worth each and every second when it led to having you in our embrace.

‘We are so excited to be your Mum and Dad.’

Additionally, Gary disclosed a detailed account concerning the child they both lost together, following the heartbreaking passing of his former spouse, Amie, not long after she delivered twins.

The newborn girl, called Willow, suffered from a severe condition called anencephaly, an incurable neural tube disorder.

As a fellow heartbroken soul, I feel compelled to express my gratitude to all of you who share this moment with me, understanding the weight of our shared pain. -Gary

A sensation that resonates deeply with me. When it seems as if everyone around you is experiencing joy from pregnancies, while you’re grappling with the overwhelming sorrow of losing your own, it’s incredibly difficult to witness such posts.

Let me express my empathy to everyone experiencing this sensation, whether you’ve felt it before or are going through it now. Rest assured, you aren’t facing this challenge alone. I understand your struggle, I acknowledge your presence, and I share your emotions. Statistics show that about a quarter of the population has gone through something similar.

Gary and Amie dated during their high school years, eventually getting married in later years. However, they parted ways in the year 2020 after being married for four years.

In 2021, he made their relationship official with physiotherapist Madi, and they got married officially in December 2022.

In August 2023, they shared the exciting news about the arrival of their newborn. Since then, they’ve been candidly discussing a heartbreaking miscarriage they experienced the previous year.

Lately, Gary has shared that the painful experience of a miscarriage triggered recollections of the tragic loss he suffered when his daughter Willow passed away only a few hours after she was born.

He shared with News Corp that losing a child was part of his past with his previous partner, thus triggering many recollections.

Willow was born with a condition called anencephaly, which means that a portion of her skull didn’t fully develop. As a result, we understood that her life would not extend beyond birth.

‘We had five amazing hours with Willow before she grew her wings and left.’

Earlier, Madi shared an experience where she experienced what is called a “silent miscarriage” – this happens when a baby sadly no longer lives, but the mother’s body continues to think it’s pregnant.

‘I had what they call a missed miscarriage,’ she told the Missta Mums podcast.

Despite my body continuing to progress with the pregnancy, nurturing growth, and experiencing heightened hormone levels as expected, it failed to recognize that the baby had been miscarried.

‘I kept growing and still having all of my symptoms.’

She mentioned that she endured a heart-wrenching fortnight of uncertainty before finding out definitively if she had suffered a miscarriage.

She expressed, “I found the fortnight before the second ultrasound unbearable; I simply couldn’t stand any more waiting.

Madi confessed that she was unaware how frequently this happened, and she was unsure whether she would disclose this information to others.

She mentioned: “You won’t truly grasp it unless you’ve experienced it yourself. Listening to other people’s tales, you certainly empathize, but when it happens to you, it feels as if a massive pile of bricks has been dropped on you.

At that moment, my heart shattered profoundly, realizing there were likely other women experiencing the same ordeal nearby, whom I unknowingly couldn’t assist.

Discussing this matter can feel quite uncomfortable. Previously, I experienced a miscarriage myself, and it seemed as though there were no resources or support available to me.

I found nothing relatable or comprehensible regarding the process; it seemed uncommon and unfamiliar to me.

‘You’re not alone, one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage.’

Last year in April, Gary’s former spouse, Amie, gave birth to a son named Archibald Alexander Todd. She had the baby with her partner, Jaison Todd.

The ex-wife of Geelong star Gary gave birth to her son at 4:32am.

‘Rohan posted on social media that a large and healthy baby boy was born naturally, weighing 9 pounds and measuring 52 centimeters in length. Our hearts are overflowing with joy.’

‘On social media, Rohan announced the arrival of a robust newborn son who weighed 9 pounds at birth and was 52 centimeters long. Our hearts are brimming with happiness.’

or

‘Rohan shared on social media that he welcomed a healthy baby boy who tipped the scales at 9 pounds and measured 52cm in length. Our hearts can hardly contain our joy.’

I had the most extraordinary childbirth experience I could never have imagined, and I wouldn’t have been able to pull it off without your help, Jaison Todd.” (Or simply, “I had an amazing childbirth experience that I couldn’t have done without you, @jaison_todd.”)

The post included a beautiful set of monochrome photos showcasing the happy parents and their newborn child, all looking radiantly proud.

In December, Amie shared the exciting news of her pregnancy. She mentioned that she and Jaison have been discussing the idea of getting married and they are currently residing together.

She expressed to the Herald Sun that she adores being in a pregnant state, as it makes her feel the most feminine and complete.

‘I’m feeling so much elation this entire pregnancy and there’s so many big life changes for us.’

‘With everything I’ve been through we’re taking each day as it come,’ she said.

I don’t feel the need to solidify what we have; he’s a true gentleman, and everything that’s transpired between us seems to be perfectly timed.

‘I said I’d never get married again but who knows, I’m not closed off to the thought of it.’
