Angus Brayshaw recently married his long-term partner, Danielle Frawley, in Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula.
On December 30, the previous AFL standout, aged 28, and Danielle tied the knot in an idyllic outdoor wedding surrounded by loved ones.
In a sleek black tuxedo, Angus radiated joy like never before, as he openly displayed affection with his newlywed spouse in photos posted on Instagram.
Danielle, daughter of the late acclaimed football figure Danny Frawley, radiated as a beautiful and blushing bride in an exquisite wedding dress tailored by Moira Hughes Couture.
At Angus’ wedding, many of his previous Demons teammates were present, such as Nathan Jones, Jack Viney, Tom McDonald, and Jake Melksham.
Growing up, I’ve been fortunate enough to call Angus and his family my dearest friends, a bond that dates back to our childhood. Over the years, Danielle, his beloved sister, and I have shared countless memories, forging an unbreakable connection.

Later on, while making a visit to the Brayshaw residence in Sandringham, an instant connection was formed and they started dating as mature individuals, as shared by Danielle’s mother, Anita.
For approximately two decades, our families have maintained a close friendship with Debra and Mark [Brayshaw]. We recall visiting their residence in Sandringham quite some time ago, and it was during that visit that Angus and Danielle were present as well, she reminisced in 2021.
As someone who has had the privilege of meeting and interacting with numerous individuals throughout my life, I can confidently say that I have never encountered a connection as instantaneous and genuine as the one I shared with Mark upon our first encounter. From the moment we met, it was clear that there was something special between us – a spark, if you will. We laughed heartily and easily, sharing stories and experiences in a way that felt effortless and natural. It’s not every day that you meet someone who instantly understands your humor and perspective, but with Mark, it was as though we had known each other for years. I walked away from our encounter feeling invigorated and excited about the possibility of future interactions – a rarity in my otherwise mundane social life. Needless to say, I am eagerly looking forward to deepening our friendship and seeing where this new connection takes us.
Reflecting on my life’s journey, I cherish a particular photograph of us from years ago, when we were both just seven. Now, as I look back, it feels like yesterday and yet it seems so long ago. That snapshot captures a moment in time, a glimpse of our innocent selves, and serves as a reminder of the days gone by. It’s amusing how, at that tender age, we held such grand dreams for the future, dreams that have since transformed into reality. I can still remember our conversations back then, filled with anticipation and hope, as we speculated about what lay ahead. Little did we know that those early days would shape our lives in ways we never could have imagined.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share a heartwarming moment that transpired in the past year. Melbourne’s dynamic midfielder Angus took a significant step forward in his life by proposing to his beloved Danielle. He joyously announced this beautiful news on Instagram, which I had the pleasure of witnessing at the time.
Angus shared that the unexpected proposal, which was quite subtle, took place right after Danielle stepped out of the shower, while he was in the process of preparing her favorite meal.
‘I cooked her favourite salad but I made her a steak,’ he told Channel Seven.
She found it pleasant, yet not exceptionally so, indicating there might be more in store – unfortunately, I accidentally overcooked her steak, an act I’m not particularly pleased about.
He shared that his intention was to make Danielle feel reassured, yet vigilant, so she wouldn’t pick up on any unusual activity he might be involved in.
As I nervously awaited her response, just ten moments prior, a lump formed in my throat and a few tears welled up – but then, pure joy flooded through me as I heard a resounding “yes” from her lips.
‘I was on one knee and I was like, gee, this is a bit too long, but we got there.’
Danielle is the child of the late Australian Football League (AFL) legend and broadcasting figure Danny Frawley, who passed away in 2019 at the age of 56.
Besides Angus, there are sports connections within his family too. His uncle, James Brayshaw – a former cricketer who was once prominent on Seven Sport – is part of this lineage. Meanwhile, his dad, Mark, represented the North Melbourne Football Club.
In February of this year, Angus had to step down from his career in the Australian Football League (AFL) at the age of 28 due to a string of head injuries, or concussions.
In the initial quarter of last year’s qualifying final, Collingwood defender Brayden Maynard tried to suppress Angus’s kick, resulting in Angus sustaining a concussion.
In a turn of events, Brayden managed to avoid the penalty for his questionable tackle, an incident that stirred up controversy among football enthusiasts and led the Australian Football League (AFL) to reconsider their rules regarding smothers.
At the point of his retirement, Angus expressed his deep sadness about no longer being able to participate in the sport he cherishes. However, he acknowledged and respected the decision of the healthcare experts, understanding that prioritizing his health over his profession was crucial.
Over the past ten years, I have had the privilege of realizing my childhood dream and making it a reality. It has been an incredible journey filled with challenges, but also immense joy and fulfillment. Although this journey may have come to an unexpected end sooner than anticipated, I am deeply grateful for every step I’ve taken and everyone who has supported me along the way. The memories and experiences I’ve gained will forever be cherished, and I carry them with me as I continue on my path in life.
As a lifestyle expert looking back at my own journey, I had some challenging concussion problems that cropped up early on in my career. Consequently, I made the decision to take a lengthy hiatus in 2017 to address these issues and give myself ample time for recovery.
