AEW missed an opportunity to give a new face some shine versus Bryan Danielson

As a seasoned gamer of wrestling rings, having witnessed countless bouts and rosters spanning decades, I can’t help but feel a sense of déjà vu watching AEW’s latest moves. Don’t get me wrong, I love The Elite and their antics, but it seems like we’re stuck in a loop here.

It appears that Jack Perry could be the one who challenges Bryan Danielson for the AEW World Championship title next, serving as a counterpart to him. On the August 28 episode of AEW Dynamite, Perry attacked Danielson, potentially marking the beginning of a fierce rivalry leading up to an event in Chicago. Despite the anticipation surrounding Perry’s appearance in Chicago, AEW tends to rely on the same performers, even though their extensive roster is brimming with untapped talent that deserves more opportunities.

In the world of AEW, the title landscape has been shaken up recently. Perry attacked Danielson on Dynamite, following his victory over Darby Allin at All In, who was previously the number-one contender. Christian Cage won the Casino Gauntlet match at the same event, earning himself a future title shot. These three individuals – Perry, Allin, and Cage – are regular faces on AEW television. Cage challenged Swerve Strickland for his first title shot. Allin has been a TNT Champion and often appears in main events. Perry is part of The Elite, a key focus for the promotion. With these three men dominating the spotlight, when will someone else get their moment to shine?

In a perfect world, this situation would have been ripe for an exciting moment. If AR Fox had accepted the challenge, he would have received an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience. As a well-respected and long-standing performer, a match against Danielson would have been a significant event. Fans who appreciate AEW’s style would have eagerly tuned in to witness it countless times over.

Couldn’t it be intriguing if Big Bill responded instead? Their history in WWE offers fertile ground for storytelling within a potential feud. Danielson was the last opponent Bill encountered before his release due to conflict with Vince McMahon. This history could have been effectively utilized in a short yet compelling angle between these two wrestlers.

On the AEW roster, there’s an impressive array of talented performers, leading many to believe it’s the finest in professional wrestling. It would be great if Tony Khan could make better use of this rich talent pool, especially for significant television appearances like going up against Bryan Danielson as he currently holds the AEW Championship.
