Aerosmith RETIRE from touring after 54 years as band announce emotional decision due to frontman Steven Tyler's incurable vocal issues: 'You've made our dreams come true'

As a dedicated fan who has lived through the era of Aerosmith, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions reading this news. For over five decades, their music has been the soundtrack of my life – a constant companion that’s seen me through countless highs and lows. From the first time I heard “Dream On” on an old cassette player to the last time I sang along with them in a packed stadium, Aerosmith’s music has been more than just tunes; it’s been a connection, a bond that spans generations.

After a long career spanning 54 years, Aerosmith has announced their retirement from touring, citing health concerns for lead singer Steven Tyler, who is dealing with persistent and incurable vocal problems.

Last year, during their farewell tour, the 76-year-old singer experienced harm to their vocal cords. On Friday, the band shared an announcement (written entirely in capital letters) to disclose this news.

1970 marked the moment when a flicker of inspiration ignited into Aerosmith, and thanks to you, our dedicated Blue Army, that spark has grown into a blazing flame, burning strong for over five decades now. Many of you have been by our side since the very beginning, and each and every one of you are the reason we’ve made history in rock ‘n’ roll.

It’s been a profound privilege for us to have our music intertwined with yours. In every club, on every epic tour, and during both grand public moments and intimate private ones, you’ve granted us a spot in the soundtrack of your life.

Last year, due to the lead singer’s vocal cord injury, the renowned rock band had to delay the performances on their final tour. The frontman hasn’t come back since then.

The message to our fans went on: ‘We’ve always aimed to astound you when we perform. You’re aware that Steven’s voice is unique, unlike any other instrument. He’s been meticulously practicing for months to get his voice back to its previous condition, after his injury. We’ve witnessed him pushing through, even with the best medical team supporting him.’

With a heavy heart, I must admit that our cherished frontman’s voice may never fully heal. After endless hours of deliberation and heartache, we, his brothers in music, have been compelled to make a painful and challenging decision – one that we never wished for: to bid farewell to the thrilling world of touring. This isn’t an easy goodbye; it’s a bittersweet departure from the stage where our spirits once soared together with his enchanting voice.

They ended their heartfelt message to their countless fans by acknowledging their appreciation towards them, as well as everyone else who played a part in helping them become one of the most legendary acts in the history of Rock ‘n Roll music.

As someone who has been involved in numerous historic runs throughout my career, I cannot express enough gratitude to everyone who joined us for our final journey together. Our successes were not achieved alone; they were made possible by the tireless efforts of our highly skilled crew, our dedicated team, and thousands of talented individuals who poured their hearts into making these incredible experiences a reality. We are truly grateful beyond words. The memories we created will stay with us forever, and we look forward to what the future holds as we continue to push boundaries and explore new frontiers together.

As a musician who has had the privilege of performing for countless fans over the years, I can honestly say that you, dear fans, are the best on this planet. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm have not only fueled our passion but also made our dreams come true.
