Aero Esports permanently banned from MLBB esports over unpaid salaries

Aero Esports has been permanently banned from participating in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports tournaments in Malaysia (MPL MY) due to failing to pay its players’ salaries.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Malaysia (MPL MY) has permanently banned Aero Esports after discovering they hadn’t paid their Mobile Legends team members salaries owed since October 2025. This ban prevents Aero Esports from competing in any official Mobile Legends tournaments going forward.

MPL MY issues permanent suspension to Aero Esports

Following an investigation that revealed multiple rule breaks, Aero Esports has been banned. MPL Malaysia announced the decision, explaining it follows the terms of their Team Participation Agreement (specifically, Clause 5.1). This clause allows the league to remove a team if they don’t meet their financial commitments or act in a way that damages the league’s image.

An investigation showed that Aero Esports hadn’t paid its Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) coaches and players since October 2025. This problem continued throughout both the 15th and 16th seasons of MPL MY. Attempts to reach the team manager were unsuccessful. Because of this serious violation, MPL MY has permanently banned Aero Esports – the harshest penalty allowed by their rules. The team’s owner is also banned from owning or managing any team in the MLBB community.

Measures to protect players and staff

In addition to the penalties, MPL My has explained how they’re supporting the staff and players impacted by the suspension. They’ve held back some of Aero Esports’ prize money from MPL Malaysia Season 16 and will give it directly to the affected players and staff to cover any unpaid wages.

All players impacted by the recent changes are now free to sign with any team in the MLBB world without being held by previous contracts. The league also supports former players and staff who wish to pursue legal options.

Aero Esports will be missing out on a big change in MPL MY

Aero Esports is in a difficult position following their suspension, especially because the Malaysian Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL MY) is planning to move to a franchise-based system after Season 16. While the new Malaysian league won’t be exactly like the franchise leagues in Indonesia and the Philippines, MOONTON Games Malaysia’s Fikri Rizal Mahruddin explains they’ll use lessons and data from those leagues to create a system that works best for Malaysia’s esports scene.

Franchised esports leagues are designed to give teams a consistent source of income, which helps them pay their staff and players. Now that Aero Esports has left the league, another organization might step in to take their spot. We’ll have to wait and see who it will be.
