Adrian Portelli’s bombshell move after winner of his $3.5million mansion was banned from claiming prize

Adrian Portelli gave the winner of his lottery a large sum of cash after she was unable to receive the multi-million dollar mansion she’d won.

Donna, a woman from South Australia, won a prize, but she wasn’t aware that, because of state laws, residents of South Australia weren’t eligible to win major prizes in the contest.

Donna was thrilled to win the $3.5 million renovated house from The Block, but her excitement was quickly dampened when Portelli informed her that, due to restrictions in her state, he had to cancel the win and redraw the competition.

However, the billionaire did offer her a $100,000 cash gift.

He explained that while they couldn’t award the prize, he wanted to personally give me $100,000.

‘Its a gift from me to you.’

The renovated mansion on Phillip Island, Victoria – famously featured on the TV show The Block – was bought by Portelli at the show’s 2024 auction. It was then offered as a prize in an LCMT+ lottery earlier this month.

Known online as ‘Lambo Guy’ because of his passion for expensive sports cars, Portelli explained in a video why he couldn’t award the mansion to the contest winner, Donna.

She bought a ‘bronze package’ from LCMT+, which gave her discounts at various stores and entered her into a prize drawing.

‘Donna sorry to say, you’re not eligible,’ Portelli said.

The billionaire revealed he’d talked with Donna before sharing the news with his fans, and said she was deeply upset by it.

Donna was announced as the first-prize winner, but the prize – a house owned by Maddie and Charlotte – cannot be awarded to her because she doesn’t qualify. Therefore, the prize will be redrawn to find a new winner.

‘It’s absolute nonsense that she cannot win a prize.

‘We must abide by these rules, and we have to redraw the prize.’

Portelli pointed the blame squarely at South Australia’s gambling laws.

Due to an ongoing issue with the South Australian government that’s lasted about a year, we’ve decided to offer a $1,000 daily giveaway to residents of South Australia until a resolution is found, he explained.

‘We draw out a South Australian and we give them $1000, which we have been doing every single day.’

Earlier this year, Portelli was in court in South Australia facing charges for operating a lottery without a license.

The company follows gaming regulations in all other Australian states, but a technicality caused a temporary issue in South Australia. The problem stemmed from a miscommunication with the regulatory body, which the owner jokingly blamed on a simple bad start to the day for someone involved.
