Adolescence writer announces “mysterious and unsettling” show based on best-selling novel
Teenage years playwright Jack Thorne unveiled details about an intriguing, eerie theatrical production inspired by a top-selling book.
Thorne, co-creator of the highly praised Netflix drama with Stephen Graham, is set to re-enter the realm of theatre by adapting John Ajvide Lindqvist’s 2004 vampire novel, “Let Me Find the Right One.
In the past, this book was transformed into three different screen adaptations: two movies and a TV show. The story unfolds in 1980s Stockholm, where it explores an unusual friendship between a 12-year-old boy and an ancient vampire girl who is centuries old.

Jack Thorne, known for his stage production of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child,” will collaborate with director Bryony Shanahan to revive a play he initially adapted in 2013. The upcoming tour is set to start across the United Kingdom from October 2025 through April 2026.
As a devoted admirer, I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to reimagine “Let The Right One In,” a tale that masterfully challenges our perspectives on genre, gender, and love. I’m absolutely thrilled that a wider audience will now get to witness Bryony’s gripping, edgy interpretation of this extraordinary story.
Intriguing and unsettling, Eli appears unlike any person Oskar has encountered before, according to the summary. Nevertheless, an unusual friendship forms between them – one that is as profound as it is peculiar. However, when grisly murders start appearing throughout town, Oskar gradually uncovers the truth about Eli and their strange connection is pushed to its limit.
Previously, the movie “Let the Right One In” was made into a Swedish film by Tomas Alfredson in 2008. Matt Reeves then directed an American adaptation titled “Let Me In” in 2010. More recently, a TV series featuring Demián Bichir and Anika Noni Rose premiered on Showtime in the year 2022.
