‘Adolescence’ SHOCKS ‘Reacher’! You Won’t BELIEVE What Happened!
In the past year, I’ve been captivated by how Alan Ritchson’s performance in the second season of the Prime Video hit ruled the Nielsen streaming charts week after week, until it was eventually surpassed by the debut of Young Sheldon’s first six seasons. Now, even the third season of our formidable mercenary has been displaced from its peak position on the Nielsen chart by another talented youngster – the remarkable Owen Cooper, who has made waves as the lead in Netflix’s gripping crime drama, [Title].
For a while now, Reacher has held a dominant position on the Nielsen charts following its latest season’s premiere. However, if there was ever a show that could potentially dethrone Reacher, it would most likely be the series created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, which has catapulted teenager Cooper into stardom. This series is forecasted to amass numerous accolades at the end of the year.
Based on data from Nielsen, Netflix’s popular show accumulated approximately 1.44 billion minutes of viewing time during its first week on the platform, marking a substantial rise compared to its initial weekend. After making a big impression since its premiere, Reacher saw its weekly total drop to 1.13 billion, moving it down to fourth place in the rankings.
It’s quite remarkable that although Reacher offers numerous episodes for viewers to enjoy sequentially, Adolescence consists of only four episodes. Moreover, this series has not only been leading the Nielsen weekly rankings but also swiftly climbed up Netflix’s list of most-watched original shows of all time. It finds itself following hit productions such as Squid Game and Wednesday.
‘Reacher’ Will Return, but ‘Adolescence’ Could Be a One-Shot Story
Despite not yet officially announcing Season 4 of Amazon’s “Reacher,” speculation about its continuation is rife due to its past successes. Both Alan Ritchson and author Lee Child have expressed their desire for more seasons, and fans share this enthusiasm.
Contrarily, Adolescence stands as a complete narrative in itself and doesn’t seem to demand a sequel. The tale revolves around 13-year-old Jamie Miller (Cooper), who is under suspicion for the murder of his classmate Katie. The probe uncovers that Jamie’s perspective towards women aligns with the “manosphere” and cyberbullying. Nevertheless, the possibility remains that the creative minds behind the series might explore a fresh tale and transform Adolescence into an anthology series.
As a movie enthusiast, let me share my thoughts on a captivating series that might follow the footsteps of Netflix’s hit show “Squid Game.” If you recall, Netflix has been known to cut shows after their first season if they don’t meet expectations. But the extraordinary success of “Squid Game” made them incredibly persistent in securing more from creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, which eventually led to two additional seasons. The same could be said for this new series, “Adolescence,” which has the potential to follow a similar path.
