Philip Barantini, the director of *Adolescence*, is working on a new Netflix series filmed entirely in a single, unbroken shot – similar to his award-winning previous work.
The popular streaming service has revealed a new project called *One Shot* featuring Ed Sheeran, and they’ve released a first-look image and details about the show.
Ed Sheeran stars in a unique, single-take musical film directed by Philip Barantini, who previously won an Emmy for his work on *Adolescence*.

Premiering November 21st, *One Shot* is a unique film shot entirely in one continuous take. It follows the Grammy-winning artist as he surprises people on the streets of New York City with spontaneous performances of his most popular songs.
Barantini explained to *Radio Times* that the single-take format keeps viewers focused on the show itself, rather than getting distracted by their phones. Jack Thorne, the writer of *Adolescence*, told *Digital Spy* that this unbroken, continuous shot pushes for more intricate storytelling and encourages the audience to engage with that complexity.
Filming in long, unbroken takes is risky because a single mistake can ruin a lot of effort. This happened to Ashley Walters while filming *Adolescence*, and he later said he was very upset with himself after making an error.

The actor remembered a funny mistake from episode two: they accidentally called their own son by another child’s name while filming the final scene.
You ever feel like you’ve let everyone down? It’s like messing up a play for the whole team, you know? It reminds me of football – you’re all working together, and when one person messes up, it affects everyone.
Philip attempted to reassure me, suggesting the character was simply confused. But I told him, ‘Phil, let’s just redo the scene.’
This summer, Harry Bradbeer also directed the third *Enola Holmes* movie for Netflix, and it’s expected to be released sometime next year.
One Shot with Ed Sheeran will release on Netflix on 21 November.
