Adele Roberts cuts a cheerful figure outside Media City in Manchester after successfully completing global marathon challenge – two years after getting all-clear from bowl cancer
On Wednesday, Adele Roberts left the TV Studios at MediaCityUK in Manchester, looking cheerful and upbeat.
As the 46-year-old radio host beamed brightly, she exited with her luggage that included a big suitcase, wearing a waterproof coat and a green baseball hat on her head.
The well-known television personality is still basking in the glory of successfully completing her remarkable worldwide running challenge in April. This feat involved running an impressive six marathons over a period of eight months in various locations around the globe.
Adele opted to take up the challenge with the intention of generating funds for Cancer Research UK and The Attitude Magazine Foundation, as well as increasing understanding about bowel cancer and its associated symptoms.
On her JustGiving page, where an impressive £12,350 has been raised, she expressed: ‘Through this challenge, I aim to repay those who supported me and continue assisting others selflessly.’
In October 2021, Adele received a diagnosis of colon cancer. She shared her journey through the treatment process on social media platforms, detailing experiences such as having a tumor removed via colostomy surgery and the subsequent fitting of a stoma bag.

Nine months following her cancer diagnosis, Adele completed chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, and subsequently, she was pronounced cancer-free. Now, she carries on life with a stoma bag, affectionately called Audrey.
Despite fighting a serious health condition, she has persisted in her deep passion for running. This year, she achieved the record as the fastest woman ever to finish the world’s six major marathons in Boston, Tokyo, Berlin, Chicago, New York, and London, all while having a stoma.
In the heart of April, I accomplished an extraordinary feat – running the London Marathon. I crossed the finish line in a remarkable time of three hours and 36 minutes.
On the day of the race, Adele reminisced about her Guinness Record achievement from 2023, where she set the record for being the fastest person to run a marathon with a stoma bag and surpassed all previous records. As she looked back on her journey, she was overcome with emotion, shedding tears as she recalled how far she had come.
Posting a video of her 2023 race medal, she commented: “I wanted to take a peek at this as a reminder of my journey and what I’m capable of, since I’m feeling quite anxious today.
‘I don’t want to let anyone down and I don’t want to let this girl down, the girl that did this.’
Apart from Adele sharing a video about her fight against cancer and the marathon she undertook, she penned: “To every individual battling cancer, to their loved ones, companions, and all those living with a stoma, this one’s for you.
I’m absolutely thrilled! There’s nothing more exhilarating for me, an ardent enthusiast, than to honor #bowelcancerawarenessMonth by participating in the epic challenge of running the @londonmarathon. My ultimate goal? To conquer this prestigious event, potentially shattering a Guinness World Record as the first and swiftest woman with a stoma to have completed all six marathons!

I’m fully committed to giving my best every single day, just like I did after my surgery. Starting small but dreaming big, I plan to tackle each challenge one step at a time. Each of these steps will bring me closer to achieving my goal.
‘And I know you will all be with me every step of the way. I will run with all you in my heart.’
As an unwavering admirer, let me express my profound gratitude to the extraordinary Kate Holderness, who has been an indispensable pillar beside me every single step of this journey. @kateholderness, your presence has been the driving force that kept me going when I felt like giving up. You are my heroine, and with you by my side, I know I can conquer any challenge that comes my way ❤️ xxx.
Following the exhausting marathon, Adele received a message from her stomal nurse, Elaine, during her interview on Lorraine.
In a heartwarming clip, Elaine expressed to her: “You’ve touched the lives of countless individuals with stomas, and you’ve been nothing short of a divine intervention. You’re someone that others strive to emulate.
‘What a great accomplishment and thank you for carrying us along on that journey with you.

Upon reading the message, Adele became emotional as Lorraine Kelly acknowledged: “I can understand why, for the individuals who aided you in regaining your strength and identity are truly significant, and sometimes we overlook their importance.
Adele affirmed: “Indeed, I believe battling cancer is a collective effort, and I owe my success to individuals like Elaine and the NHS. Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to overcome this challenge.” Earlier, she had opened up about feeling responsible for her health scare and sensing that she was being penalized for some unknown reason.
She expressed her feelings as follows: ‘Initially, I believed I might have been the one to bring about this cancer, and my immediate reaction was fear of impending death. However, when the doctor assured me he could assist me, that became my sole source of hope.’
‘And when he said it wasn’t my fault that’s when I just cried and got so emotional.’
