Adele confirms she's taking a break after Las Vegas gigs: 'I want to live my life'

Adele declares that she intends to honor her pledge by stepping away from her musical career once her engagement in Las Vegas is finished.

During her final performance of her 10-show tour abroad on Saturday in Germany, the singer known for “Hello” and “Rolling in the Deep”, announced her intention to take a break once she completes her three-year residency in Las Vegas, Nevada, in November.

The fifteen-time Grammy Award recipient expressed on stage in Munich, as captured by fans on TikTok, that while he may not be the most confident performer, he is exceptionally skilled at it. Moreover, he has greatly enjoyed performing for approximately three years, marking the longest duration he’s ever performed and likely will continue to do so.

Adele still has ten performances remaining for her “Weekends with Adele” series at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum. These events are scheduled across five autumn weekends, having been rescheduled from their initial dates in February because of her health issues.

“I’ll miss you deeply during this extended absence, cherishing our shared moments as if they were precious gems in my heart throughout my vacation,” she expressed, further mentioning that she would “daydream” about our stage performances together. “It’s been an extraordinary journey. I merely need some downtime to recharge.”

The 36-year-old, choking back tears, expressed that for the past seven years, they have been constructing a fresh existence. Now, they yearn to experience this new life they’ve created. They also shared that they would deeply mourn their departure from this moment.

On Tuesday, Adele took Instagram to reflect on her “bespoke” gig in Munich, which launched Aug. 2.

“Wow, amazing Munich! What an unforgettable adventure! The warmth and kindness I experienced at each performance left me deeply moved,” she expressed, accompanying a compilation of highlights from the concerts. She extended gratitude to the audience members who joined and her crew for making it possible.

That sounds like the way the world works, but the news is always moving. I’d rather read it with a different metaphor: “The news is constantly changing, but we are reading it in a different light. It’s an ever-changing world, but we’re watching it with a new lens. I’ve been sobbing at the sight of this beautiful video! Now Munchen!”

In July, the superstar expressed to German broadcaster ZDF that her creative tank is running dry and she has no intentions of producing new music whatsoever.

It seems you’re not used to reading language and it seems like you don’t have any special relevance. That’s because you don’t have a unique perspective, as in the first metaphor. You could still be singing at home if you were a big fish or a tall tree, but I don’t think so.)

Initially, before her Las Vegas residency started, the Academy Award-winning artist known for “Skyfall” had expressed intentions to step away from music and possibly delve into English literature studies or acting. Nevertheless, during a performance in January, she hinted at the possibility of resuming touring following the release of a new album, which could be an extension of her 2021 award-winning “30.” However, she mentioned to a fan that neither action was imminent for her at that moment.

Instead of visiting for a performance at “30,” she moved into the Colosseum as her residence. The start of her residency was planned for January 2022, but it had to be abruptly canceled on the day before the opening due to the COVID-19 pandemic and complications with the supply chain. Later, she revealed that the delay was because her “creative requirements” were not being fulfilled. She criticized the show, stating that there was no emotional depth in it and that the large theater of 4,000 people lacked intimacy.

It looks like the “Easy on Me” rapper is currently launching “Weekends With Adele” in November 2022, extending the run twice.

This month, the British singer publicly acknowledged during a concert in Munich that she and sports agent Rich Paul are now engaged. For months prior, she had often referred to him as her fiancé, and even occasionally called him her “husband.” The couple made their relationship public in 2021. Previously married to Simon Konecki, the singer has a 11-year-old son named Angelo with him, and has expressed her desire to grow their combined family.
