Stanley was born on Sunday, July 6, weighing 2.13kg after just 32 weeks of gestation. 

The newborn is currently receiving care in an Adelaide hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit.

They shared news about the arrival of their newborn son, Stanley, on social media, posting an emotional picture of him swaddled snugly in a delicate blue crocheted shawl.

I find myself currently at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a place I’ll remain until my strength allows me to return home to my loving family, especially my eagerly awaiting older brother, Carter. This is how it reads in their touching message.

I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to our loved ones – family and friends – for the unwavering affection and encouragement they’ve shown us. And a warm thank you goes out to those who kept us close in their thoughts. We eagerly look forward to the day when we can introduce our new family member, Stanley, to all of you.

27-year-old Milera took a leave of absence from the Adelaide Crows’ match against Melbourne on July 6 for private matters.

It has now been revealed it was due to the birth of his second son.

On November 1, 2023, the Mileras got married, having become parents to their first child, Carter, who was born on March 30, 2021.

A wave of backing and camaraderie is coming from both fans and teammates, filling up social media with kind thoughts and inspiring words to help them through this difficult period in their lives.

‘Congratulations, Junior, Nina and Carter,’ wrote the Adelaide Football Club. 

‘Aaawww so gorgeous. Congratulations to you all,’ one person wrote.

‘Gorgeous! Get nice and strong Stanley,’ a second added. 

Stanley’s premature birth marks a poignant milestone for the Milera family.
